Since they own both properties I can't see it being too much of a threat. It may be more of a balancing act than a profit boon in either direction. -
So if Barbie sales make over $1 billion dollars a year, Mattels total yearly sales was $1.17 billion, and Mattel owns American Girl as well, how does American Girl outsell Barbie? Yeah, boo-hoo, they have one brand beating another. My daughter has a knock-off American Girl-type doll and many accessories, and absolutely loves it.

My problem with Mattel is they really should have been releasing DC Comics Barbie doll figures near Christmas every year. To me this is a no brainer. You sell Barbie and you (try) and sell DC Comic figures. Why not combine the two. I am surprised we have seen released a Barbie as She-Ra. Then again we are talking about a company who does not listen to there fans, put out what they want and make subscribers buy a figure for $30 that some jerk who is in charge created back when he was a kid and is now in charge of there figures.Visit my wiki site:

Hearing that Mattel doesn't listen to fans is like hearing someone rant that the sky is green IMO (I'm not interested in debating that topic), though everyone's entitled to his/her opinion. Resorting to name calling of company employees is really uncalled for however.Comment
