Interesting race issue with Captain Action

Something that had never even occurred to me was brought up on the Captain Action facebook page by a fan who said they would find it inappropriate if Captain Action (being white) wore a mask of a black character such as the Falcon or Black Panther, which they compared to wearing blackface.

I don't really see the issue...he is after all just assuming the hero's identity, not mocking them.

What do you think? Is it inappropriate?

Nobody seemed to have any problem with CA becoming Tonto or Kato...BUT, that was back in 1998. The world's a lot more PC now.

Personally I don't see color. Its a man wearing the mask of a man. Unfortunately we live in an age where the insecurities of others sometimes have to be recognized, since our culture has taught everyone to sue one another, right or wrong, when moments of inadequacy arise. It's pretty sad. I doubt they'll get far enough into the line to ever have to worry about that though. They've got bigger problems. Like making money.

It's weird that nobody complains when he plays asian guys like Kato or Ming. I think the best solution would be to make a black dude CA, and an asian guy.

I see no issue at all. Now if it was a female costume for C/A maybe that be a problem.

C/A is about the disguises so that should end the debate.

Now, I think having different races would be very cool! I've even suggested an aged C/A figure, bearded and gray haired.

Well, to be fair, the guy playing Ming has blue skin and an exposed brain. I think the world's only blue guy just died, so we should be okay there. LOL
