I received this email from Alter Ego Comic. Is this true did Mattel really cancel the line if so Mattel sucks as a company

Mattel has announced that they are not continuing with the Batman '66 line of action figures beyond series 1. Collector's dreams of having a full Batman rogues gallery from the classic TV show have been crushed. We have 2 sets of 4 figures plus 2 Batman and Robin 2 packs in stock, and once they're gone, they're gone.

Ugh, please let it not be a Matty exclusive line. I love classic ThunderCats but I am never dealing with Matty collector or digital river ever again.

Bingo! What no one knew is whether there would be a market for Batman '66 merchandise. I think Mattel was timid to invest too much because of the age of the license. Yvonne held out hoping it would be huge and it didn't happen. It will be interesting to see how this impacts how much FTC does. Maybe they were waiting to see how the early products did?

Actually, she got paid. If I had to guess, WB gave her a head's up to the effect of "Things ain't working out for retail. Final offer. Take it or leave it".

Ya know, WB/Matty have done this before because of outside forces.

Never forget Dini/Timm Animated was killed because they wanted to try a new Bats approach, which resulted in The Batman and Brave & Bold. B&B was then canceled for Nu52 uniformity. This could be a case of where they released product to satisfy a trademark, and then decided to end it for Beware Batman/Nu52/Bat-Fleck.

I can't believe this line was out long enough for Matty to make such a decisive decision. Something beyond sales numbers occurred.

Now that I think about it, this may be one company's reaction to that original statement a couple of weeks ago. This may not be anything new. Just another interpretation to that old news.
