New Captain Action AD with pics!

Well, we finally get a look at the painted Iron Man mask...looks great!

Not really feeling the Wolverine though. His face looks very different style wise from all the other releases so far.

Looks pretty good. I have to see it up close though to get a better gauge on the ear pieces. Something seems a little off there in the shot. I agree full on with the Wolverine sculpt. Not exactly what I had in mind for him. That and I don't like the redesign on the Hawkeye figure. Originally, they had a great sculpt of him, but redid it for some reason. The original was more Kirby-esque than this new one. Oh and I have to chuckle a little here. Note on their blog intro, the date is now EARLY October. Another release date missed. Any predictions for a November date? They're killing me.

I think Wolverine's first appearance 'whisker' mask would have fit the style of these figures better.

I really wish they would have done this in 8 inch style instead of the 12 inch. I would have been buying them to include in my Mego collection.

I was curious about asking the people at Captain Action about trying again to release there Captain Action/Marvel Comics in the 8" scale and I got this reply.

Thanks for the kind words. Captain Action is not really a Mego styled line. His sweet spot is 1/6 Scale. We did dip briefly into Mego style with Castaway toys but the making uniforms & masks for that size doesn't really translate as well. Also, the Marvel CA license is only for 1/6 scale. Perhaps someone will pick up the Marvel license for mego style figures as they did for DC.
It is a shame. I would love to get those Marvel outfits and use them on a ReMego instead.

I'm scratching my head a little bit on their response. Seems to me they're trying to put out a wide variety of merchandise for Captain Action but they're knocking a particular action figure format!? Also, I've seen the Cast-A-Way versions first hand and I didn't notice any issues with the clothing or masks just because of the smaller scale.

^^^ The Castaway Captain Action Phantom mask and costume looked great. There weren't any cosmetic differences in that scale that the 1/6th scale didn't share as well. See pic below. And actually Castaway did it one better by giving the Phantom RINGS. So they certainly improved on the concept if anything. A very accomplished feat that worked every bit as good as the 1/6th scale. And if I had my 'druthers', I would prefer them in the Mego scale. Once again, the CA license holders have no tact in handing out opinions about others who have purchased and sold product for their characters. They seemed determined to alienate everyone who once stood in their corner.

In a way this saves me money. I do not have to buy CA figures now. I really like how there Marvel characters have turned out but they are expensive when you still have to get a body to put the costumes on.

What they're saying, IMO, is two things.

One - "translate" means it's easier to do 1/6 because it's more prevalent, so they have more facilities to choose from. They don't have to worry about a scale problem occurring during manufacturing.

Two - Marvel is hot, but all we have is a contract for 1/6 and someone already has DC for 1/9. So, we have no licensing rights.

The really notable thing is the speculation that Marvel could be available if you want to pay their price, which is probably twice that of DC.

Only hope to me for a Marvel ReMego was from Diamond, but they've apparently gotten out of the game. So it's up to someone around here to suddenly get real deep pockets and a desire to fulfill a childhood dream with no care about being in the red, let alone breaking even or a profit.

Actually, based on what I've heard the new Captain Action line isn't in true 1/6 scale, which again, seems odd to me if you look at the bigger picture. I'm sure they wanted to make it to where the costume sets were only compatible with their Captain Action figure. However, had they made the line in true 1/6 scale you would have had a ton of customizers in the 1/6 scale community buying the costume sets. Also, if the body was at the quality it needed to be they would have been buying the basic Captain Action figure as well.

The plan for the new 12" Action Jackson line is to make it in true 1/6 scale so that it's compatible with most of what's already available in that market, and also make a high quality body. This way we'll be able to tap into the 1/6 scale customizing market which is huge.

Imagine 8" Marvel (Mego) using the Zica body! Surprises me that we don't even have Marvel Mego's being replicated from Hasbro or Hasbro letting figures toy company do it....

Marvel Mego's would sell more DC Mego's because it would be like the old days

this is crap... we lost our molds and couldn't continue. Our masks fit fine, and as MIB41 showed there was no loss in translation. The Dr. Ling and Redbeard mask looked even better in my opinion... We made some dang cool figures and helped them sure up their trademark... if they want to sweep us under the rug like "Super Joe" now, that's on them... we know they were cool, sold like hotcakes and sell for more on the secondary market still today. I am proud of that.

^DAMN RIGHT!!! The CAW Captain Action stuff was extremely well done by you and Jason. Redbeard may well be the best conceived and executed Captain Action piece in his whole plastic history. LOVE that frickin' beard!!!
