Just read over on Action Figure Insider that NECA announced at SDCC they have acquired the Planet of the Apes license. I did a little further research on a few other websites and it seems they will have two action figure lines going at the same time. One based on classic POTA and the other based on modern POTA.

I saw some guys talking about this over at Sideshow Freaks. I'm guessing they'll be 6 or 7" figures. NECA's detail is awesome, so I suspect I'll be spending way too much on these.
After I got Sideshow's 1/6 Cornelius, I thought I'd never need another one, since it was so awesome. Then EMCE came out with their repro Cornelius and I had to get that. Now, I realize I just need to be honest with myself and admit I'll probably get two of these--one to keep in the package and one to goof around with on my desk.Comment

They also said on Twitter that they will be making regular 7" figures, and most likely some 1/4 scale figures. Also, they have the rights to ALL POTA films, including Burton's, but don't think they will do anything from the Burton movie.

They should Mego-it-out Django-style on these new Simians as Medicom already rocked-it in the small scale. That said, there's a whole lotta classic characters that never saw the blessing of plastic. Finally, something for us freak collectors to twitch over. Go deep, Go Ape! :PComment

I asked NECA this morning if there was even the smallest chance we'll get 8 inch apes from them. To their credit, they replied very quickly:
not likely, someone did a few years back & they didn't do well at all.
