    Marvel Legends and Marvel Universe

Just read that Hasbro has pulled the plug on their Marvel Legends and Marvel Universe lines. They plan on focusing on movie related Marvel figures and toys instead of the comics versions which has me wondering if this could pave the way for Figures Toy Co. to aquire the rights to produce 8" scale Re-Mego Marvel Universe figures?

Re: The Marvel Universe 3.75 inch line: Apparently Hasbro claim the figures will be the same as the MU line, but they're just renaming the MU brand "Avengers".

For Marvel Universe fans, changes are coming in 2014. This line will be re-christened simply the Avengers line. The figures will stay they same, same style, same articulation, but they will no longer be called Marvel Universe. One of the reasons for this change is they feel this re-branding will help with the Marvel Universe distribution problems. Which makes sense as retailers will relate a line named Avengers more to the movies and animated properties that they like to sell product for.
They're not kidding about the MU distribution problems. That line has been getting harder and harder to find at retail over the last couple of years.

Wow I just saw the Hit Monkey wave at Wal-Mart and they're killing the line.I don't collect this line but that stinks for any one who dose.

By me the Marvel Universe seems to show up about every 2 to 3 waves and marvel legends are worse, I think the pricing on these are causing the issue IMO they are too high for many people to go all out on the lines and shops are getting stuck with them on the shelves for ages, I see the same with the movie lines though, the odd few characters sell but the rest just sit there, I think kids and parents may go for the new 5 POA figures at the cheaper price

Plus they focus on the same core characters, then do a bunch of older characters. Where are the new characters? Where are the kids from Wolverine and the X-Men? The Runaways?

Sure I want the Defenders, Alpha Flight, The New Mutants, and the New Warriors, but does Batroc really deserve a figure before Quentin Quire or Kid Loki?
Looking for Green Arrow accessories, Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver, and Japanese Popy Megos (Battle Cossack and France, Battle of the Planets, Kamen Rider, Ultraman) and World Heroes figures

Yes, Batroc is awesome. An old school Cap villain from way back who is long overdue in toy form.

besides that, Batroc is in Captain America Winter Soldier, so he will have some crossover appeal.

This is not the case at all...re-read the announcement. Marvel Legends and Marvel Universe aren't going anywhere. The comic based figures will simply be folded into the movie lines just as they were with Iron Man 3. The 6" Iron Man 3 line actually had five comic figures (including Iron Monger BAF) and only two movie figures in it, but being released under the movie banner actually helped the distribution.
The upcoming Amazing Spider-Man 2, Captain America 2 and Thor 2 lines will all have comic based figures included in them.
