I'm wondering how it's going to be made. Mattel released a Hot Wheels version at almost this scale in die cast, and I think the price was pretty similar or slightly less. It looked considerably more detailed, too.

Is it just me, or does the (over)articulation on these (and many other modern figures) bother anyone else?
that articulation in the belly is wierd looking. throws the whole look off. the sculpts look great though and I will definately have to get that Batmobile, so of course I will at least need Batman and Robin to drive it

The "ab crunch" joint has been pretty standard on 6" figures since the early days of Toy Biz Marvel Legends. Mattel's DCUC line had the same joints. They are usually more noticeable in these brightly shot promo pics than in person.

That's true. They're also hidden better on more muscular figures, and West had a bit more of a keg than a six-pack.

I'm excited about these! But I already have Megos of Batman, Robin, Joker, Riddler, Penguin and Catwoman (Julie Newmar style), plus a Batmobile and Scott's Batcave. I'm not sure if I can justify buying these too. But I still might. I hope the Batmobile can fit the figures. The articulation wouldn't bother me so much if they had clothes on to cover them, (like Megos!). Personally, I would have rather seen Frank Gorshin's face in that sadistic grin that was trademark Riddler. And I think Mego nailed Burgess Meredith better than this one, but still really exciting! Is anyone getting these for the kiddies? (and give them an education on the definitive Batman!)
"Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."

I agree about the Riddlers expression, I would have liked a laughing face better, but I have to say they look really nice!
Expectation is the death of discovery.

Yeah, I have that Hot Wheels and I have a Retro Shadowtrooper riding it! Love the detail and I hope Mattel will do that Futura Batmobile justice.

                        Some more pics and info.

                        No Batgirl.

You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

A bunch more pics and close ups. The stuff looks really nice.

Mattel also showed off their flavor of the 1966 Batman series of figures at Toy Fair and they are really making a go at it. Going so far as to include Batman with swim trunks and a surfboard. Packaging samples were on hand as well.
