Yeah, they are kinda like having a pet or Mini-Me for your Skylanders. They just follow them around and have few cute animations and sayings. I think Trigger Snappy is especially cute. In the original Skylanders game you can do extra funny little tricks with them. You can shoot them with your attacks and they do stuff like slipping on water, shocked by lightning or set on fire. Can't do that in Giants because you can't shoot the in game characters anymore. I liked that in the first game you could annoy Flynn by shooting him. My son hasn't bought "Giants" yet. He just got a Playstation, so I think he's trying to decide if he wants to start over there, or just buy the expansion pack for Wii, minus the portal, etc.

The figures are cross-platform, right? So the characters he's using on Wii will work on Playstation, or doe the original Skylanders not work on Giants at all?

Yep, the figures work on all the systems. So, the figures he leveled on the Wii will work just fine on the PS3. All the original Skylanders work in Giants and can be even leved up to the new level cap of 15. The Skylanders Giants series 2 versions of the original characters work in Skylanders Adventures. Even the Lightcore ones. But the new giants and the new characters don't work on the original game. So, for example, updates of characters from the first game, like Lightcore Prism Break, works in the original Skylanders game but new characters, like Pop Fizz and Tree Rex, don'tYou are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. Another nice thing about the new PS3 portal is it's wired. The first PS3 portal (and think the Wii version too) was wireless and ate batteries like crazy.You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. You can cross over from the first edition Spyro's Adventure to Giants but nor the other way around. They are Cute to have, and for 2 bucks with Frito Lay you couldn't go wrong. The bad part is trynig to track some of these suckers down, it's like a regular scavenger hunt lol
If anyone finds an EYE BRAWL and THUMP BACK let a brotha know... I would hate to pay e bay prices for these guys.Comment

Don't pay ebay prices on these. Eye Brawl and Thumpback just started showing up at stores last week.
