He-Man and the Masters of the Universe need YOUR help to save (Club) Eternia!

    From MTV Geek News...http://geek-news.mtv.com/2012/07/31/...sics-sub-2013/

As a MOTU Classics collector who has had more than his share of problems with Digital River and Mattycollector over the last four years, I still have to admit that MOTUC is, IMO, the best action figure line produced today. I subbed up for 2013 today, and I hope any MOTU fans and former subscribers here who can afford to subscribe for 2013 will do so, as MOTUC still has a great number of characters to add to our shelves over the next few years (Vintage MOTU, Filmation, Princess of Power, New Adventures of He-Man, etc.). Is it a perfect solution? No, it's not even the preferred solution for many. But right now it's the only way to support MOTUC moving forward in the greatest numbers possible. So if you're out, you're out. But if you're on the fence...please support MOTU Classics! Subscriptions close AUGUST 6th.

The shown figures for 2013 are pretty lacking. Cool figures but really obscure in some cases. Ram man looks dead on though!

While i agree MOTUC is a very good series, Mattycollectors tactics are ruining the series. Mattel should do themselves and us a favor and do a trial run at toys r us, Target, and Wal-mart. Release a few characters for twenty bucks. At this point the molds should be paid for. Its a no brainer really.

I still wonder why they are playing toward this collectors mentality. Make it available and we shall buy.

BTW, I dont believe for a second this series wouldnt sell. True its a different generation but theres alot of younger people collecting the vintage figures and these are really well made.

I've watched the series from afar, but my observation is Mattel has really hurt it with a bunch of self-indulgent figures. Does anyone really want those design contest figures? I don't care if a Mattel employee entered the contest in 1985 and gets to have his figure made now. Put Ram Man out first.

I'm a bit torn about Mattel begging on these subs. I understand the need to reach fans...but there's something kind of...wrong about it.

i was once a subscriber, but canceled once i started "new adventures" and she-ra figures. Out of everything shown, i only want Jitsu and Ram-man. I don't want to pay for more figures i don't care for, and probably won't be able to sell off.

I am a fan of this line and have subbed from the beginning and will do so again. However, Mattel is starting to get on my nerves with this pleading and threatening to stop the line if they don't get enough subs.

For one, they need to give subscribers more of an idea of what is coming out. I realize they don't have prototypes ready but I am sure they know what figures they want to produce. Give at least a 6 month peek at whats coming out.

These need to be in retail to some extent. Maybe they don't need to be in all the stores but even putting them in specialty retailers like comic book shops, GameStop etc would give the line a little more exposure and give them a chance to increase the production numbers that they want.

The last thing that bugs me is they claim that they need subscriptions to know how many figures to produce. Why is that? It seems to me that just about all of the single figures (non battlebacks, oversided figs etc) sell out in a day or two on the site. If they would put more up for sale and make the actual process easier for people, I am sure they would still sell out. They want to blame the fans for this but in all truth, Mattel has themselves to blame.

I just talked a bout this on my pod cast, the fact is Mattel is ripping us off, they say they aren't making any money on the line but that can't be true, there is a huge market for these figures and they sell out every time! (that is if they are telling us the truth about sell outs) the point here is they were making hug profits from the line but the secondary market has fallen back and a lot of resellers have pulled from getting multiple subs because they can't resell the damn character choices they are putting out. On top of it I lost all interest in subscribing once they took away the option of just getting 1 figure a month, I rarely go after the quarterly figures and now that I have Battle Cat, Panthor, and Swiftwind I have no interest in the bigger beasts. So I would be glad to subscribe but not to everything just the core monthly figures. Also I don't need POP (aside from Horde Members) and I really hated New Adventures so each one of those that come out make the line less appealing to me. before the line closes up I would love to see Filmation style heads for He-man and Skeletor come out though.

Here is a link to my podcast if you want to check it out, we did have a special guest from MOTU it might be worth looking into: http://structuredgibberish.com/thatll-strict/

Speaking of podcasts, MOTUC brand manager Scott Neitlich sat down with Val Staples, Pixel Dan and other He-Man.org members this week to answer a lot of fan questions and concerns posted here (decrease in subs, increase in figure costs, reasons for not revealing 2013, options if 2013 subs fall short, the 2014 road map, Preorders, scare tactics, character selection, Promised improvements, international shipping, day-of sales, Advertising, additional incentives for sub holders, etc.). Very open and honest dialog.

                          Listen here: http://http://www.he-man.org/forums/...094-Discussion

I understand how people feel about the idea of a company Like Mattel aggressively asking for more sub sales...but keep in mind Mattycollector and MOTUC are not the same as Mattel and hot wheels or Barbie. They do not get the same resources, they do not have anywhere near the same sales numbers. And as critical as people are of Nietlich, what other brand managers are as communicative with the collector fan base?

Also, re: DIGITAL RIVER, the org is sitting down again with Scott and a rep from DR for this coming Sundays podcast, and are taking questions for Digital River now.

My first reaction was the hell with them. But then I caved in today and bought a sub. Wanted to do it for 2012.

I just need to be a more wiser spender this year.

I have WAY behind on this line though.

Digital River also released a statement on Mattycollector addressing/acknowledging many customer complaints and concerns today. About time? Too little too late? I think if people have decided to opt out, they've made their decision, but like I said, if you're on the fence...We appear to be at around 85% going into the weekend. Many think the line will pull through for 2013, though the REAL QUESTION is, since the 2014 tooling budget is based on 2013 sub sales, what will 2014 - one of MOTUC's final full years of heavy hitters and missing characters look like now? The more subs for 2013, the more we can expect for 2014.
