Mattel has had a lot of misfires with the DC lines of late. I think concentrating on the "current" crossovers hurt the lines a lot. I mean, Blackest Night and Brightest Day didn't even really happen now, right? Yet figures from those lines are choking up the shelves.

As much as I hate Mattel's distribution and greed on Matty, they have given us a broader range of figures than Hasbro ever would. Rememer when we were all desperate for any DC characters that weren't Sueprman or Batman at retail?

I think Marvel Legends still has a lot of goodwill going for it from 10 years ago. Heck, it might even be nostalgia at this point. It was hot then, scalpers think it will be hot now.

This needed to happen. Every once in a while the industry needs to have the bottom drop out so something new can crop up.

I wish Mattel would lose the DC license.

Well let's see boring looking toys, overpriced, kids not reading the comics that many of those lines come from, outside of Batman not having anyone else with a cool movie....uh yeah I can see why.....Shame DC does well with their animated features......

Can't say I'm wholly disappointed, considering the boring YJ line (JLU was gasping on life support for years in the aisles, what did they expect from it's unarticulated successor?), craptastic GL figs (happy meal toys for a disappointing movie), and head-scratching mish-mashes and rehashes in the upcoming DC Super-heroes retail line. The golden age of DCU Classics and JLU is over, and it was glorious. Couldn't really ask for more than we got, and if I could I can now turn to Mattycollector (and hopefully this will encourage others to do so as well).

Mattel seemed really unfocused with their 2012 DC offerings, I think it's best to toss out some TDKR fare, take a break and recoup. I think they should've relaunched completely with DCnu52-only offerings, but can see why they chose the wait-and-see approach. I LOVE DC old and new, but I'm totally ok with this.

when this is a wave of figures is it any wonder?

It doesn't surprise me. Between terrible distribution and awful prices I'm surprised it lasted that long. Thw only figures that I have were from a time that these were cheaper or on clearance.

I would have bought more if I could find them. And those times I did find them were at Cons or Toy shows and the prices were too high. I really wanted Zatanna and the one time I saw her, the guy would only sell her as part of a set. I didn't want the set.

I hope Hasbro picks up the licence. It would be great to have Marvel and DC in the same scale and style again. As well as the same scale as GIJOE.

Can't say I've bought more than a couple DCU figures ever, and I prefer DC over Marvel comic wise. Too high a price, too hard to find, too many variants of the same people. I have zero interest in Blackest Night Atoms or White Lantern Flashes. The few I liked were oddballs like OMAC or Kamandi. Plus DC Direct offered many of the same characters at the same prices. I don't remove my figures from the package, so articulation doesn't mean a whole lot to me personally. But price was the kicker.

It's as alive as ever with me... as long as they are still selling on
Matty collector... I'll pay extra and pick 'em up on Ebay.

Given that our Canadian retailers were really hit and miss with which waves they picked up, it hasn't been really that much fun collecting this line unless you lucked out and found them when they would pop up at discount in Winners. Even if you made a cross border trip, it's so often hit and miss because other collectors and dealers from up north tend to clear things out.

Comic Stores of course had to charge a premium if they got theirs via Diamond.
