Shogun Warriors style Batman

Dang, that is really cool. Takes me back to my black-eyed childhood shooting myself in the face with a shogun warrior rocket-fist! Good times.
Mina is the world's first Paranormal Petsitter in the new middle-grade book series by Gary Buettner, MONSTER PETS, coming in FALL 2014 from EMBY KIDS. Spooky adventure that's perfect reading for kids 8-12

Why not just make it Shogun-like? It's half-size and all sharp corners. It seems like Matty Retro Body/DC 9" concept fail to me.Comment

I think this looks really cool... BUT I, too, would like to see Funko take it the extra steps to make it more like a true Shogun/Jumbo Machinder. 24" tall and a firing fist would be enough. Missiles that could shoot out of the Batsymbol would be the icing on the cake. Heck, how cool would it be if each "pod" on his belt held a missile... like a bandolier. I'll probably still get one of these because I love the style. I just wish it were more like a true Shogun. Price might be an issue (like the Super 7 Stormtrooper) but you can't tell me that a company can't make a licensed 24" blow-molded figure, sell it at $100 or less and still make a huge profit.
Oh....and wheels. How hard is it to put wheels on something like this? Can't be that tough... Hot Wheels have four on each car and they sell for less than a dollar. It's the oldest, simplest toy feature in the book.Last edited by Delusional B; Mar 30, '12, 10:58 PM.Comment

But listen, Mattel made Godzilla sell in the 70's, and I'm sure Bats has more marketing swagger these days than old atomic whiskeybreath... If it were just a blow molded, four articulation point figure at 24" with pop-off forearms that I could "pretend" fired, I'd be all over it.Last edited by Tothiro; Mar 30, '12, 11:03 PM.Comment

Also, a huge part of the appeal of the Jumbo Machinder style is how huge the toys are/were. It's a stylistic deal-breaker, in a way, to do this style at such a small size. There is a whole "Jumbo Collecting World" out there that buys these things just like there is an active Mego community searching for the next great reMego (that had better be 8" or it's not a "Mego"). In a way, doing a "Jumbo" at only 11 inches is like what Hasbro did with the 9" DC Superheroes... It was close, but no cigar. All it took was that extra inch for most Mego fans to disregard them as being "not Mego enough." That's what could happen with these... close, but not close enough to really capture the spirit of the thing.Last edited by Delusional B; Mar 30, '12, 11:15 PM.Comment

But c'mon. Batwing brain ship making the ears? Batarang chest symbol missile-launcher cover where two round pegs insert into missile silos on chest when not in use, become pegs blow-molded fist can hold it by...? Would have been delightfully awesome.Comment

All great ideas... That kind of stuff would take it from being cool to being a "must-have" like the Super 7 Stormtrooper was to so many collectors.Comment

I'm sure Funko toyed with the idea of doing this in a 24" retro shogun warrior style, but sales wise, I think they made the right call doing it they way they did. As popular as toy collecting has become, there's still a very large percentage of the market for somewhat "casual" toy collectors. I have several friends that will happily plop down $20-$40 on unique toy items that they might see in comic or record shops, but completely scoff at spending $50-$100.
I love big toys and have no problem in general spending more money on something that will make a bigger presence amongst all my stuff, but those that feel the same may be the minority rather than the rule.Comment

Would you guys pay $200 plus for a full size 24" Jumbo Machinder Batman?
Who here is buying the Super 7 Fett, or bought the S7 Stormtrooer jumbo Machinder?Comment
