I really appreciate that there is a ridiculous effort being put behind this, but is there a grown up 80's kid market for this specific Back to the Future product? Particularly for that price point? Is there an ironic hipster cool to having the deck portion of the little girl's pink scooter that I'm just not getting?

I love the first Back to the Future movie... I totally would buy figures based on Doc or Marty. The Car is way cool.

This one was a bit of a head-scratcher to me, too... especially at that price point. I would think you would have to be quite a die-hard BTTF fan to want one of these. If the design of the board had been something really cool-looking in the film, I could understand a little bit more. However, it looks like a poorly designed 80s toy instead of a cool film prop.

I think this was someone at Mattel's pet project that probably got a little too far down the pipeline. Like you said, there are so many things that would sell to so many more casual fans. Action figures and a Delorean would be a logical place to start, I would think.
