The DC lineup was the third wave of Nostalgia cars released by Hot Wheels this year.

The first wave was the Masters of the Universe which had a TRU exclusive 4 pack. The second wave released: cereal cars- Booberry, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Count Chocula, Wheaties, and a few others including a sdcc exclusive Frankenberry.

The third wave (DC cars) was then released it includes the Wal-Mart exclusive 4 pack. They have been on the shelves for a couple of months now- One good place to shop for them is Milezone.com - they sell them by the case as well as individual.

The most recent wave is candy cars: twizzlers, Milk Duds, Good -n- plenty, etc.

They are sold at Wal-Mart, Target, TRU- but usually tough to find much on the pegs- Some grocery chains sell them as well- like Kroger. Other hobby stores are a good spot to look like Hobby Town USA (I have GREAT luck there!)

Moving into 2012 there will be:

    Hanna-Barbera
    Pin-Up Nose art
    Hersheys
    Ice Cream
    Saturday Eve Post

There also looks to be a second round of DC comics based cars.

Nostalgia series, like Vintage Racing, Garage and Boulevard series Hot Wheels are part of the premium line ( they all come with rubber tires (not hard plastic) and metal bases and bodies- most (not all) of the $1 garden variety HW come with metal bodies or metal bases- but often one is plastic) - they are meant for the "adult" collector- hence the jacked up price.

I went to 3 Walmarts today and nothing. If they were here I've never seen them ever.

You can still buy the DC 4 pack exclusive at Walmart.com and have it shipped for free to a local store:

Walmart.com: Hot Wheels Nostalgia DC Comics, 4-Pack: Vehicles, Trains & Remote Control

The best way to find them is Milezone.com or Ebay or TTP - there is not likely to be much hanging on the pegs at this point.

Scott, I went to one Wal-Mart today and checked for you while I was there. Sadly, There were none to be had.

They came and went pretty quickly. I will still keep an eye out for you though. You never know.

I saw these at Target yesterday. They had all the singles except for Batman.

It reminded me of the old Corgi vehicles from the late 1970's.

Just something to note- if anyone should come across these sorts of cars, the most desirable to collectors is usually the Dairy Deliveries and Panel delivery (the type of vehicle is usually identified on the card).

Agreed. Otherwise some kind of cross border shopping trip to buffalo would be in order. Although that s always so hit and mss given that every other collector in southern Ontario tends to have the same idea.

I have yet to see these in stores. Visited two out of town Wal-Marts, a Target and a TRU and nada everywhere. Are these a limited release, is it Mattel's typical awful distribution, or is it the dreaded Hot Wheels scalpers of old back at it again?

I "think" that this line has actually already came and went in most of the stores. I first seen them like two months or so ago. I have not seen hide nor hair of any of the other lines either any more such as the MOTU and cereal cars.

I would say it's more of typical Mattel \ Walmart distribution (it's pretty much the same for all the premium series). As for scalpers, people are always buying up whatever might be resold for profit- but there aren't many cars that are super desirable- except maybe the Superman Panel delivery and the Dairy Delivery cars.

I think your best bet is to check out Milezone.com - they are very reasonable and offer great service- I have been buying from them for a few years now and have been very happy.

Also keep an eye out for a return of the 1/50 scale Batman series this year- there is going to be some kick-***** releases including the 1966 series TV show Batcopter!
