What is the best gaming system?

Okay folks. I'm thinking of finally taking the plunge and getting a newer gaming system than my old Super Nintendo. There are a lot of cool games coming out that I would love to play and I think it's time I indulged myself for the Holidays. My only question is this----which one do I invest in?

    PS3? X Box? X-Box 360? Wii?

There are too many choices and I'm too undereducated about all of them to make a good decision, so I thought I'd ask you guys for help.

Which ones do you guys have and or like? Pros and cons are always appreciated!
sigpic Oh then, what's this? Big flashy lighty thing, that's what brought me here! Big flashy lighty things have got me written all over them. Not actually. But give me time. And a crayon.

The Wii has exclusive Nintendo games like Mario and Zelda. But has graphics barely above Gamecube level, can't do HD and non-existant online. Still worth it though if your favorite games are Nintendo ones.

You can't go wrong with either the PS3 or XBOX.

Same level of graphics. Both in HD. Good online features. The PS3 has free online gaming with a deluxe sub with more features like discounts on downloadable content. To play the XBOX online you need to pay a sub fee. I think, on the two, it boils down to which has the exclusive games you want and if you are going to play online with friends which systems do they have.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I've got an Xbox 360, Wii and a PS3. Each one has its strong points but overall I would say Xbox 360 is the best. I rarely ever play the Wii or the PS3 but the Xbox 360 gets used on an almost daily basis.

Honestly, you can't really go wrong with either system.

I think your choice will depend on whether you want to play online with your friends and what system they have.

I bought the Xbox 360 first, but if I had to pick one system, at this point I'd pick the PS3. The PS3 edges out the 360 in my mind because it has a great Blu-ray player and the 360 will probably never have one, and online play is free, while you have to pay $40-50 a year to play online on the 360.

As far as games go, there are more 360 titles available, but there are plenty for both platforms. If you are concerned about what titles are available on what platform, you might want to stroll down the gaming aisle and take a look at which platform's games catch your interest more. The 360 big exclusives are Halo and Gears of War, and the big PS3 exclusives are Killzone, God of War and Uncharted. If you are into first person shooters, you'll probably want a 360, since Halo and Gears rule that genre.

I will say, though, that it seems to be easier to get used 360 games than PS3 titles because there are a lot more people with 360s, but the nice thing about buying used PS3 games is that their disks don't scratch as easy.

I wouldn't bother with the Wii. Once you get past the novelty of the motion controls, there isn't much to it.

I think that overall the PS3 is a better machine, and worth the price to have a blu-ray player. The only other thing I'll mention are the online arcade/downloadable games. If you're into classic Nintendo games, the Wii features a lot that you can download and play. The 360 has download-only games as well, but I haven't played as many of them. Both require you to purchase points that you then spend on downloads. I'm not sure if the PS3 has these or not. If it does, I haven't bought any of them.

same here Zica, my ps3 barely gets played its my blu ray player and its a great one. but for the 60 bucks (you can always find memberships cheaper whether its through amazon or buy.com) a year to play online through my 360 i can stay up all night with 8 friends in a chat/party system and talk as long as i want. ps3 never seemed to get that part right on their network

i would say the 360 only because theres many used games at a low price. the new motion senser thing is pretty cool.
the ps3 is probably the best overall because its the newest.
                the wii has zelda.....
im sure theres another system just on the horizon.

Of the three, I like the PS3's motion control the best.

I thank all of y'all for the input and hope to hear more from others. I think I've narrowed it down to either the XBOX or the PS3. I do like the fact that the PS3 will play Blu-Ray DVDs (as I'm starting to accrue quite a few)....

I too have been thinking about buying a new system. I compared the PS3 and Xbox 360 over the weekend and I have decided to go with a PS3. The graphics look great on both but the price ($250 for 160 GB w/bluray vs $299 Xbox 360 250 GB no bluray) exclusive games and free online network are what pushed me toward the PS3.

We made the mistake of buying a Wii when they first came out. It was fun for about a week and then the novelty wore off quick. It just collects dust now and even the PS2 sees more action than the Wii does. Unless you want to play goofy party games, avoid the Wii.

The only goofy party games I enjoy involve alcohol and female nudity, neither of which I'm liable to find on a Wii!!!
