I remember my original Barnabas model came with a second pair of arms that were made of a softer rubbery-like material which were supposed to be poseable. I remember being able to bend them (a little) but they quickly returned to their natural position in mere seconds. I don't know if they had wire inside them though?
Are the reissues "snap" or "glue" together? I seem to remember the originals being glue together, but I could be mistaken about that.
These models are great but they are not cheap! PNG mentioning the tree trunk made me think of Batman and the tree trunk which seems out of place when you think about it.
If a Mego figure of God did not exist, it would be necessary for EMCE to invent him.
The Batman kit was odd. In 1965, Batman was not known for perching in trees. Neal Adams put Batman in trees quite a bit, but that was after he started going back to the mysterioso feel.
Thanks PNGwynne! I can vaguely remember gluing them together. One of the first write-ups I came across that discussed the reissues (about a year ago) mentioned that they were going to be snap together. I thought that was incorrect, but it's been nearly 40 years so I wasn't sure.
The original Barnabas Collins model kit was the first 'monster' related toy that I ever owned. Barnabas was my introduction to vampires. I remember thinking that other vampires, including Dracula, were nothing more than second rate Barnabas ripoffs.
