New Jem and the Holograms toys at NYCC!?

Hasbro: New York Comic Con Plans Announced - Figures.com Forums

"Hasbro will have a significant booth presence featuring current and upcoming products from its Transformers, GI Joe, Jem and the Holograms and Kre-O brands, as well as Beyblade, Marvel and Star Wars."
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I'm surprised it took this long for them to bring it back.

So is the a revamp or a re-release? The later I think will have a nitch with collectors but I don't think a revamp will work. The world is such a different place these 25 years later I can't see the concept of "holograms" being all that captivating to todays kids.

Since Hasbro started re-airing the original Jem series on the Hub it has become one of the higher rated shows on the network.

Right, in its original form... but who watches the Hub, adults, children or adults sharing their memories with their children. My question still remains as far as a revamp... what would be the hook for a new version?

Again I'm not knocking the original at all and I'm not saying that IT isn't entertaining to kids BUT does the concept hold enough weight today considering the mountains of competition and kids' perception of technology? Plus the Hub is a small network compared to Nickelodeon and Disney.

Are you kidding? Lady Gaga, the biggest pop star on the planet, doesn't strike you as similar in concept to Jem at all? This is the PERFECT time to relaunch Jem and the Holograms considering the look and sound of pop music today (Gaga, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj etc.).

Me too; considering the insane number of fans the show had.

HAW! Good point! The original show was also a lot like the Japanese "magical girl" shows, and we've seen an audience for that sort of thing here for a while now.

I predict my home will be flooded with JEM merchandise.

The original Jem just started on Teletoon Retro but I haven't had a chance to watch it yet. I'm pretty sure my niece is going to love it.

I'll buy her a new Jem doll when they come out. I might buy one to keep in the package myself. As a kid I wanted one but never asked for it because I didn't think it was something boys were supposed to like but it was a good show!

I would have liked to have seen Mattel make these on the same body they are using for the Monster Chicks.

I'm hoping the Misfits won't be left out. I want to add to my Pizzazz army.
