So, SDCC's reveals kind of stunk this year, huh?

For me at least. With the end of RA, and the slow death of DCUC, it looks like Mattel is really heading toward promoting the new DC, which I really don't want to support in any form.

I guess the Golden Age of DC product for aging fanboys is over.

On the other hand, Hasbro's Marvel stuff is looking good, and of course the 8" format is alive thanks to Biff Bang Pow and Emce.

I feel kinda the same way. I wholeheartedly support the continuation of the 8" format, but I'm not really jazzed about any of the new or continuing lines. I think the previous couple of years were really a high point in the format. Even though there's a lot of new stuff out, I'm a little let down.

Depends on what you collect...I'm really into Master of the Universe Classics and Mattel blew away all my expectations...they got Filmation rights, mini-comics are returning with the figures, we're getting more beasts, our first vehicles, and the creation of all-new MOTU characters by Mattel, Dark Horse, and the Four Horsemen.
      I couldn't be happier.

The cool stuff I saw was tarnished some what by all of the bad news Mattel seem to enjoy bleeding on everyone. Thanks Mattel.

I certainly can't complain about the new Venture Bros., of course I saw them at Toy Fair already...but I'm glad they're still intending to make them!

I guess I should have been more specific. There was some great reveals and great product coming from SDCC. BUT, I'm a DC guy mostly, and the news from comics to toys (esp. comics) was pretty depressing.

If Mattel doesn't want to play ball, then let 'em take their Big Jims and go home. We got EMCE, Biff Bang Pow, and my homies at Cast-A-Way and Odeon to give us the Mego-like goodness.

Eerrr... Classic Trek isn't going away dude.
Did you mean no new release date announcements? Because word is there are classic figures in the que, just no news on release schedule.

Plus (and I hate to sound like Mattel does with the RAs) I think there is an untapped market for the TNG characters and that hopefully increased sales of Trek might help TOS figures in the long run...Maybe?

I am bummed about the end of DC as I know it in toys and comics, too.
                  It's all good!

maybe sad news on the RA front. But, that was well forecast.

The BBP lines are making me very happy. Ventures are great; Twilight zone - that clown sculpt is awesome!!. ; Doctor Who - wow! Morbius!! Leela!! yes! bring 'em on.
The Lost figures may be a lost cause, but wave two was THERE and is selling and will be gone before you know it. Plenty of cool customs there along with some 8" goodness for Lost fans. Spectre (or is it in the hands of BBP now?) was showcasing the 2nd wave of Dark Shadows figures. I understand there is a movie property of DS coming up - hopefully that will kick these out of the shadows and into the light.

And RA, well tho I do lament not having more figures for my kids to crack open and play with, I am not all that saddened by characters that we will not see in the RA format. There are a number of customizers with MAD skillz around here and I don't think we have really begun to see what will happen with customs from the RA sculpts or even GASP using the RA body. Jims quick and dirty photoshop mockup of a Robin (Drake, was it?) as kitbashed from the Kyle figure is enough to make me want to hold on to an extra just to give that a shot.

plenty of good news on the 8" front and I would hope that we will be in for more in the future.

yeah, I was hoping to see some sign that classic Trek was continuing.

No More DCU Classics As we Know them ...
If you want them ..., Threw Matty you basically gotta Pay 10 Bucks More a Figure with shipping and taxes ... So they are more like 25 bucks a figure, and 40 bucks for the big ones...

                        In the Comics ...
                        No More Secret Six
                        No More Boostergold
& All this New Direction crap ...

Yeah ..., it's far too Overwhelming for me at this time ...
... The Original Knight ..., Often Imitated, However Never Duplicated. The 1st Knight in Customs.

always trading for Hot Toys Figures .

just do what I do, reread the good old stuff. Kirby's DC stuff currently, OMAC, the Demon and 4th world reprints.
