I was given a nude Max Steel figure and have kept him around because I've always liked the articulation and thought the figure would make a great customized figure. That is, at least the one I have seems a-ok because besides the bit on the wrist this figure would look cool in a jumpsuit. Has anyone on the board ever pulled the head off? I haven't attempted it for fear I'd break it and there's no info on Youtube or elsewhere. I've wondered why Mattel just didn't make this body type at 8".

I didn't know that Chris. But your absolutely right. After I looked it up, I then found this below! Could Max Steel AND Big Jim be in movie theaters? Holy cow! Maybe Big Jim will come back!

That goes all the way back to when the GI Joe movie was announced [2009]. I doubt its still being considered. And even with all the Max Steel stuff out, and the tv series, that link is the only place I ever saw any mention of Big Jim. I don't think that is true. Unless they mean it in the vein of Super Joe being related to GI Joe.
As for removing his head? he has a kind of weird connector inside the head. If you heat the head and pull up gently, yet firm, you will get to the part of the connector that has a type of curved "T" design. If you're patient, you can work it off the piece. If not a "snip in the right place will do the trick. It depends on if you plan on remounting the head on that body.Bugler, sound the advance.Comment

I noticed that Max Steel was still pretty big in Mexico a few years ago. Not sure if they were just dumping product there, but he had more shelf space than Star Wars and Superheroes at places like Walmart and other Walmart like chain stores.Comment

My son was way in to them when they came out, but thanks to parental overreaction in the wake of 9/11. Mattel basically killed the line, with its extreme sports/antiterrorist storyline. I've read it stayed successful in Mexico and parts of South America for years after, and tried to lay my hands on some of the toys for my son, but to no avail.

I picked up the flat out BEST Bootlegs I have ever seen in Jo-Jakarta (indonesia) . They wer 5" max steels with the exploding head guy. Everything worked and they had cloth pants.
The arms didnt bend beyond what you saw in the boosted photos from a real Max Steel box, so I think they sculpted them from those pics.
Once I have them scanned in and can post I'll share.
I actually liked the cartoon though. Good cgi for humans.Comment

Thanks again; worked like a charm. Just placed the head in hot water and took my time pulling off the head until it came off. Not sure what I'll put on the body, maybe turn it into a custom Snake Eyes, SMDM, Superman, or Batman. Or, hey, I might even consider doing that deal on the net where you pay $100 for a company to sculpt your own head.
