Has anybody here other than me noticed that when you first take a figure out of the package it has a scent, kind like new car smell only more plasticky? Am I the only person who sniffs their action figures? Do I finally need to go see a shrink? 'Cos if I do, I gotta tell you, I'm really not all that surprised.

I used to notice this with the original Star Was Kenner figures. I was hoping that the new mail away Boba Fett would have that smell when it came a few weeks ago- sadly it did not.
The smell I wish I could bring back is the one from the Six Million Dollar Man dol... er, action figures.

I like the smell of new action figures, dolls and vinyl playsets!"Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."Comment

Lord knows what we were smelling back thenMy favorite odor was the bendys by Lakeside. I haven't really noticed too much of any kind of odor from modern toys though.
It's all good!Comment

I thought this would be athread about toys that have intentional scents (ie Strawberry Shortcake, Gijoe Mega monsters, He man Stinkor etc)
Yes I love the scent of a freshly opened toy it's best when the case is first opened to peg out the toysComment

I've noticed a few unintentionally stinky toys in my time. But the big thing for me was the smell of a vinyl Halloween costume like Ben Cooper used to make.
10 years ago, I worked for a billboard printer, and I was in a room off to myself with a giant vinyl plotter. It smelled like Halloween every day!

I love the smell of some toys, I didn't notice all of my vintage Star Wars figures having a strong scent but I recall very specifically that the Tie Fighter Pilot I bought in 1982 had a really strong, almost sweet smell to it when I opened it! I can still recall that scent very well too.
Speaking of which, I know they say that smelling something familiar can be really strong in bringing back memories and such, I know that the smell of swimming pools and certain vinyl really instantly brings back memories of being a kid and walking into American Sales or Toys R Us during the summertime, looking for toys and beach stuff. Every time I happen upon that scent I instantly remember that.Comment
