    NECA's 1/4 scale Classic Predator

NECA just twittered their "BIG" announcement which turned out to be a 1/4 Scale 1987 Classic Original Predator. This Predator is the largest Predator figure ever made and based from the 1987 movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The figure will be made available in 3 different head versions of an open mouth, closed mouth and helmeted Predator. It will come with over 20 points of articulation, movie accurate details, removable backpack and tribal necklace and skulls. You can look for it to be hitting the April of 2011 and suggested retail is around $80.00 dollars.

The only downside as usual is the 3 head versions means that
you have to buy 3 figures to get those 3 head styles.

Here's some pics of the first shots sample.

That's my thought also to go for the closed mouth and sculpt the mask,or I might sculpt an open mouth mandibles.
I've studied the 7" Classic predator figure I have and it seems can be done because I saw there is line marks where the mouth area, lower jaw are probably glued on during production.
Hopefully this one has an articulation on the forearm computer where it can be opens and he sets the destruct mode.
McFarlane did this on their 12" Predator and that will add to the awesomeness !

          I've read an article about NECA's re-using the same bodies and why they don't include extra head for their Predator figures and mentioned this;

"The Predator is a good figure, but a lot of fans are unhappy about the way NECA is selling masked and unmasked versions as separate figures. It's not like the company just randomly decided to do it that way: because of the way oil prices are rising, NECA has to be able to sell at least 20,000 units of any given figure to make it financially viable; there are some figures they made in the past that they'd never be able to make today, because the break-even point used to only be 10,000 pieces. Re-using 95% of the sculpt for multiple figures just helps defer that initial cost, and increases the chance of the company surviving to make some of that cool, obscure stuff again in the future."

Not only NECA does this, probably other toy companies as well, they need to earn money, right?

            Bah .
That info with The Excuse of the 3 Heads is just smoke and Mirrors behind allure and Mistique. It's all about more Potential Money, thats All. It cost them less than 50cents to include a Helmet with the Closed Mouth Version.

Sure, witha HairDryer or some boiling Water, anything plastic on plastic with some glue, can be removable.

But to really answer your Question , I do not think they intend for them to be removable , They are just probably glued into place, after the cast. Probably alot Easier to make.

Release here will be even more limited than in the US, so I ordered the one set of all three (available in Belgium). I do a convention now and then, so I'll probably pick one for myself and sell the two others, and recuperate my money that way.
If they don't sell, I can always keep all three and pose them "Charlie's Angels" style....

The one I'll probably prefer (open mandibles) wasn't being offered here separately.

I was more referring to the Hot Toys style, which has poseable individual dreadlocks. You can move them into any position, if you like doing your own "head and shoulder shampoo" commercials....
