Problems with Bandai Strawberry Shortcake dolls

I was rearranging some of my toys today and got out my Bandai Strawberry Shortcake dolls.

The scent on Strawberry had not faded it had actually gone bad. It was like a foul vinegar type odor. Plus the dolls hair had fallen out and I mean all of it in big clumps. It was nasty. My guess is whatever they used to spray on the scent disolved the glue that held the hair on. The hair wasn't rooted like you'd normally see on dolls. I never had anything like that happen before.

I had to throw them all in the garbage.

Anybody else had problems like these with the Bandai dolls?

They were made by Bandai from 2002 to 2006.

Bandai isn't known for their quality figures. I'm sorry to hear that happened to you. Are the new ones Bandai too?

The new ones are by Hasbro and they are great. I checked some reviews on amazon.com and I see other people had similar problems with the Bandai Strawberry toys. These problems only effect the Bandai dolls. The classic Kenner ones, The 2006 to 2009 Playmates stuff and the new Hasbro toys are all fine.

Man, Shortcake has bounced around a lot the last few years, huh?

I guess she's "back home" at Hasbro (or the closest thing to home there, since Hasbro absorbed Kenner years ago).

Yeah, no worries on those. The Hasbro ones are awesome quality.
