    WWE Elite Scale Ring

Okay, so my eight-year-old son is totally into wrestling and has followed my 30 year old example and created wrestlers with his Megos. Someone posted at one point that the WWE Elite Scale Ring was a good size for Megos - better than the Paco Magnificent Wrestlers ring he's currently using. What I want to know is, how far off the scale is it? ie: what scale are the WWE figures? Are they 8" as well? The thing is damned expensive - $60! - but his birthday is in a month, so I may just have to spring for it. I just don't want to get it if he'll be disappointed with it.

    Thanks!

Mattel's WWE figures don't have a specific scale. That said, they're all in the 7 inch range. Jakks figures tended to be a little bigger overall, but they have a similar scale. The Mattel Elite Scale ring will probably be a little undersized for Megos, but it won't be terrible.

For what it's worth, if I was buying for my kid I'd go with the Jakks WM2 real scale ring. It's the same size as the Mattel Elite scale, but comes with real metal turnbuckle posts, cloth turnbuckles and a steel cage. It's as close as you can get to a "real" ring and is much more accurate in terms of design than the Mattel ring.

Price is about the same. It'll also likely be a little closer to the size he'd need for Megos.

Another cheaper option for Megos might actually be something called the "Monster Ring" which was also made by Jakks. It's pretty crappy by comparison to the aforementioned rings, but it's turnbuckle posts would be to the same scale. It's the same as the old LJN ring, which fit the 8 inch rubber wrestlers.

    Hope that helps.

Actually, since I'm such a swell guy here's a picture of a couple of Megos in the aforementioned Jakks Real Scale Ring. Excuse the shoddy quality, my camera is charging and my phone doesn't take great pictures.

The height of the turnbuckle posts is about correct, in the center of the back.

As you can see, the ring is massive. Two Megos and an assortment of other figures inside it, with room for more.

Ignore the green turnbuckle posts and aprons. It comes with blue WWE aprons and cloth turnbuckles. I just made my own. One of the advantages of this set versus the Mattel set is that you can make your own turnbuckle covers if you want, since they're fabric.

The cage isn't pictured, but attaches to this and gives you that old school steel cage action.

I checked against the old "Monster Ring" and that one is a decent size as well, but might actually be a bit too big.

I checked against the new Jakks TNA six sided steel cage ring (if he's into that) and it's also a great fit for Megos. Also the cheapest, at $35. But it's a six sided ring.

I still don't think anything beats the Jakks Real Scale WM 2 ring with the cage, which is the link I posted. Regardless this should give you a comparable look at the Elite Ring from Mattel if you decide to go that route.

        That does help, thanks!

The WM 2 ring looks great, but shipping is $21.00. Ouch! I can get free shipping on Amazon, but the only one they carry (not counting third-party vendors) is the Mattel one.

I was at Toys R' Us yesterday, and they had a few different WWE "real scale" rings. I guess I need to go back and see if they have the WM 2 one!

Thanks so much for the advice and pictures!

Well, hell. I bought a used one on eBay. It arrived and one of the three clips that holds the ring together on the bottom was broken, but I can fix that with glue. What I can't fix is the missing small tube with two hooks that goes between the turnbuckle and the ring post and holds the rope in place. There should be twelve of these pieces (three for each ring post) but there are only eleven.

I don't suppose (hoping against hope) anyone out there has a spare??

My son's birthday is in 18 days, and there's really no time to return this (and of course, the seller states they don't take returns) and find and buy another. My only hope is to replace the part.

          Thanks!

Bummer. Ringside has a pretty good return policy, but Ebay, I dunno. You may shoot Ringside an email see if they have any extra pieces they'd sell for cheap.

You may contact Jakks, they used to be pretty good about repair parts, though I don't know if they still carry everything since they don't have the license anymore. I doubt you'd get it in 11 days.

That said, a twist-tie or bread-tie should work to do the trick. Just loop it through the post and then the buckles. Tighten til appropriate and then clip it with scissors. Might do a double or even triple tie for extra security.
