Do you want " Authentic Reproduction" Kenner Star Wars ?

Parker Brothers, Aurora, He Man, GI Joe, Barbie, Fisher Price . .

Hey that He Man reissue REALLY surprised me!

How about if Kenner reissued the originals in that style?

Would you like it? Would Collector-investors stand for it?

What if they continued to expand to new guys in the old 5 point articularion style?

This was tried once in the POTF2 days with a four pack. It was met with rather lukewarm reception at the time. People seem to be eating the retro cards up, but I am not sure retro style figures would fly very far. That would mostly be aimed at adult collectors, I would think. I can't really see Hasbro pushing minimal articulation to the kid audience after they have spent all this time figuring out how to make them posable.

I've seen them POTF2 4-pack figures sold loose and passed off as originals.

Not being a big Star Wars guy, they could easily fool me.

I'm not a fan of ANY figure being reproduced unless it's clearly made different than the original.

I wish they'd make some characters in the vintage style that were never made. Same articulation, same simple look, same type of packaging.

The repros had modern copyright on them, I believe. That would help the casual collector. For anyone who is a vintage SW person, they are a little smaller and the plastic feels totally different. The sabers on the Luke and Vader are a little bit of a different story tho. Pretty tough to tell those apart unless you are familiar with them.

For a higher price point, released in original looking packaging, in plastic clamshells.... sure. I'd pick these up for display.

We have an almost complete set (missing 3 figures) of Kenner figures loose, so this would compliment our collection.

For me it's about getting the vintage Power of the Force guys that are missing from my vintage collection. If they could reproduce those (with modern copyrights to differentiate them from vintage), it would mean that you wouldn't have to drop hundreds to complete a set.

Other than that, I think they should just take a page from the GI Joe 25th anniversary collection... packaging that echoes retro style, but give them modern sculpt and modern articulation like the new Joes.

On one hand it would be neat to have for those that may have missed out or could not afford the originals. On the other hand it would suck for those that paid a lot for the originals as the value would be sure to decrease to some level.

I think the classic four pack at the time was too soon. Now, I think SW fans would really go for it. I have nearly a full set of the vintage Kenner ones and I'd still have to pick up my favorites if they'd ever do that. I think a couple of reissue box sets of the first 12 SW figures would be beyond cool. I'm actually surprised they haven't done it.

The MOTU commemorative figures were spot on for the most part. But there were enough subtle differences that you could tell them apart. The new ones were actually painted a lot nicer for one thing. But the biggest difference was the small ridge added around the bottom of the feet.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

the loose originals would probably be cheaper then the reissues

That's pretty much what I think, too.
If they're going to issue any more figures in the old classic Kenner style, then I'd want characters they never made first time around, like
                      Grand Moff Tarkin,
                      Biggs Darklighter,
                      Uncle Owen & Aunt Beru,
                      General Dodonna
                      ,
                      etc.

I would buy new characters sculpted in retro style.

how about a "Revenge of the Sith" Anakin with telescoping lightsaber sculpted like it was made in 1977?

how about a Mace Windu done in the same style?
Looking for Green Arrow accessories, Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver, and Japanese Popy Megos (Battle Cossack and France, Battle of the Planets, Kamen Rider, Ultraman) and World Heroes figures

Back when Phantom Menace was released, and I had utterly convinced myself it was cool that truly "new" Star Wars figures were coming out, I can remember thinking how neat it would be if they released a set in the '70s style. (Darth Maul with a big head and vinyl cape and such.) Nowadays I can't summon the energy to even slightly care about the prequels. But YES to retro figures Kenner didn't make the first time around. For a series that was a few figures short of the centennial mark, I always thought it strange that Owen, Beru and Tarkin were nowhere to be seen. They were major characters! Oh, but let's not forget to include General Madine, a shirtless Rancor Keeper and an "Imperial Dignitary" seen bowing in the background for two seconds. Even that large woman wearing sausages who was seen dancing in Jabba's palace had reached the prototype stage. (Perhaps we can be thankful POTF ended when it did, with a wimper and not a *shudder*.)

As for a re-release of the ones already made, I hope they don't. But they probably will. Star Wars fans will buy anything, and I'm sure Hasbro's more than happy to oblige for as long as they can.

                            Hmmmm....

I'm not a collector really; I only want the best representation of any given character. So I'm usually okay with newer designs over classic ones.

I'd love if they did a limited reissue run of the original SW figures, as long as they altered them just enough to make them distiguishable from the originals. I was pretty excited to get that 4-pack in 1997, and was surprised at how lukewarm the response was. But yeah, as mentioned earlier, I think the timing was just not right. People were still way too excited about the newer figures coming out at the time. Now, I think people would eat it up. I really liked the modern re-release of vintage style MOTU and McDonaldland figures.
