Why no Droids or Ewoks animated series action figures?

These seem like such no brainers to me. Colorful, kid friendly and a nostalgia appeal. Plus, unlike the Holiday special, Lucasfilm has not totallly distanced themselves from the properties. Mix all that together with Hasbro and Lucasfilm's love of milking all things SW, I'm surprised they've not done at least a couple of boxed sets from the cartoons.

I ways pretty irked Princess Kneesaa was axed from the upcoming Vintage collection Wicket figure. Hasbro can release the Ice Cream dude from Empire, Jabba dancer Gargan (Bet she was a top seller) and zillions of other blink and you miss them characters but no Princess Kneesaa, King Garneesh or any other Droids and Ewoks characters.

According to many of the Star Wars Q&As they have out there, it is George Lucas that is not letting these be produced. To that list you can also add The Tonnika Sisters from the Cantina and figures from the Holiday Special. I think it was stipulated that figures from the old animation could be done in realistic movie style. I guess they don't want anything to conflict with the Animated Clone Wars style figures, but if any Ewoks found thier way on the current animated series they would be fair game. How about an Ewok Jedi? Come on Lucasfilm! That would be awesome!

You sir must now turn in your SW card. Ewoks are evil and one of the most annoying parts of any of the films. I hated them in 83 and i still have no love.

I respect that. Most of the SW stuff Hasbro releases of I have zero interest in, like the comic packs for example. One of the points I was making though is Hasbro has released a heck of a lot less popular and more obscure characters than the Ewok and Droids one. If blink and you miss them characters can get figures no reason why Ewoks and Droids can't too.

Don't know if she sold well...but she's inarguably more memorable than
the majority of the bit players from Jabba's....so much so that she was
one of the characters that got very close to release in 1984/5 despite
her admittedly "odd" kind of character (obese female with 3 sets of breasts).

I think it was the aniversary collection, look quiet good too I would love to see some of the old cartoon stuff done in realistic versions, they have done it with the comic and the expanded universe stuff so I can't see why not, that would go some way to rekindle my buying from this line well that and a cut in cost

Yeah, the "animated debut" Boba Fett figure was cool... based on his first appearance in the animated segment of the SW Holiday Special.

The Canadian animation company that produced that segment, Nelvana, also did Droids and Ewoks.
(And some cool stuff like A Cosmic Christmas and The Devil and Daniel Mouse and Rock & Rule. They even almost did a Doctor Who cartoon!)

there are a few things fighting the characters from the lines release:
Styling - lucasfilm and hasbro are not using cartoon stylings except for modern clone wars. even characters from the 2003 animated series are made in a realistic style as if they had appeared on screen (this would lend designs from the Ewok tv movies though). most of the fan boards (rebelscum, sandtroopers, sir steve's) posters express seeing cartoony based designs or not at all for Droids and ewoks. The lack of multi media support (neither series has had a full dvd release only a reissue of some 80's era vhs episode releases (and not even all of those were reissued) in 2004. You have a better chance of seeing them if they ever release those series to dvd and they sell well
Blink and you miss them's are the fault of the vocal fanboy minority on the star wars fan sites. they complained for years for Yarna (the heavy set 6 chested one) Ice cream dude and all denisens of Jabbas palace along with every monster in the cantina. They go their wish Hasbro made yarna and it was one of the worst peg warmers ever. Hasbro eventually had to buy them back from stores and destroy them just so TRU, Target and walmart would order new stocks. The minroty argue hasbro made an error by putting it in a standard production run in the case and it shoudl have been a chase fig but the damage was done. the ice cream guy was done late in the 2010 line so production was small enough most were moved thanks to the fanboys and ebay scalpers
Cost even if using realistc designs many of the characters other than ewoks would need to be almost all new and hasbro has made a habit of producing on the cheap whenever possible in this SW line - ie recycle as much as possible - 2 figs from this year used molds that date back to the 2002 POTJ line
