Ah.. Ultraman. He was cool. (Love the new figure BTW) But.. I always gave more points, and affection, to Giant Robot. Poor Johnny, watching as his beloved robot died to save the world.

Collecting Ultraman has always been a frustrating experience. For DECADES they only sold him in a cheapy blow mold body and now, when they finally create a figure people want, they can't get the d*mn thing out to buy. Years ago I purchased the deluxe Ultraman figure (Type C) and have had to be content with that. THEN I discover they actually had a Hyata figure which is priced out of this world because it's discontinued... THEN I notice there was actually a re-release of that figure and THAT is out of production too!
If I didn't grow up with it and still love the costumes, I would give it up as a bad hobby and move on.
On a side note, it's interesting that no one has ever tried to convert this line into a Mego scale. With all the Science Patrol characters and, of course ,Ultraman and his monsters, there's lots of custom fodder to indulge in.

Banpresto had 5"-6" articulated Ultraman figures with cloth outfits around 2000. They still show up on ebay once in a while. I believe they were vending machine figures - and there were only three, one of which was the classic Ultraman.

Seen those and got one. 5 inches would be my high end guess because Kid Flash looks like a giant next to him. Not quite Mego-ish enough for my blood.

Yeah, not really Mego, but still a jointed, cloth outfit classic ultraman figure. I couldn't resist. Just wish it was 8".

I'm rusty, but I recall my best friend and I loved Ultraman when we were in Kindergarten/First Grade.

Long time ago but nothing has diminished his coolness. We made a.... what were they... the click thing he used to change with, my friends mom made us one from a laundry marker which I recall looking like a sharpie.

Oh, so yeah, 8" Mego Ultraman would be cool.

Ultraman probably wore the cape in one of the more recent multi-generation films, or perhaps in a manga and videogame. The whole population of Nebula M78 are constantly active in multimedia.

I do love those blow-molded, vinyl Ultraman figures. Japan did for Ultraman and his giant-monster contemporaries what Kenner later did for Star Wars' characters, at the same price point but X4 bigger.

yeah, ray is right. the ultra act series of figures are based on their latest release/introduction of their latest hero- ultraman legend who is the son of ultra seven. alll the classic guys had capes to give them that more dignified look.
