He-Man Question: Is Count Marzo a new character or from the vintage cartoon?

I don't know a thing about He-Man except for the fact that as a teen, I hated the figures since they were less articulated than Megos, and I had no interest in the story or characters. I still don't really, except as a pop-culture touchstone.

But this Count Marzo looks pretty sweet. No articulation complaints, gorgeous design and sculpt, and a name that didn't appear to come from the mind of a five year old. Is he someone from the original cartoon, or an modern invented character?

Either way, I might actually be attempting to buy my first He-Man figure soon.

He's from the original cartoon, but he looked considerably different there.

Somewhere Mattel's legal team lost certain rights to He-Man characters. They were able to do a Count Marzo in the 2002 cartoon. This figure is based off of that version, since they still have the rights to the 2002 version.

They attempted to make him look the same "style" as if he had been made in the 80's, but with the newer design.

The original Marzo looked like this:

    Hope that helps!

The design for the New Mattel figure seems to be somewhat based off of the 2002 Incarnation of the character...., which to me, was a pretty cool character on that Toon.

      BTW ..., good luck buying a He-Man figure unless it's a Reissue.
The last 1 I was able to get was a Battle Cat Threw the site ..., them things sell out in 5 minutes these days, including the offerings today, and get slapped up on ebay by 2ndary scalpers for twice as much. It really is very difficult to even get 1 . ..., well at 20.00.
