Went to nearby Georgetown to get a new pair of shoes, expecting to find nothing. Instead, I found the Brave and Bold Batman/Despero 2-pack at Big Lots for $10. I regretted passing it up a few months back, and never saw it again. For $10, I had to get it. The Batman in this set is a nice purply-blue, very Adam West like. They also had the Batman/Sportsmaster 2-pack.
On to K-Mart, and I almost passed up the DC Infinite Heroes. I hadn't seen ANY new figures of these in ages, and never at K-Mart. Found all the new guys, including my coveted Earth 2 Robin figure!!! Even found one for the boy too. I never thought I'd ever walk into a retail chain and buy and Earth 2 Robin.
On to the town's Wal-Mart, which despite it's size, historically has had an abysmal toy department. They had DCUC wave 11 and 12 figures!!! Not all of them, but they have never carried this line before. I couldn't pass up Spectre and Dr. Mid-Nite, but I did leave Copperhead, Iron, Eclipso, Katma Tui and The Shark behind. At $15 a piece, I can't really afford to "collect them all" anymore.
My son was happy to see the new Iron Man 2 figures, and I was happy they were currently on sale at Wal-Mart for $6.96. Not too insane, given the quality of the figures. He got a War Machine.
Why is it, when you go hunting for toys, you find zip, but when you just browse the aisles you find enough stuff to break your bank account?
Unfortunately, phone calls to TRU resulted in zero Retro-Action figures. Maybe next weekend.
