The Kids Biz one is a neat oddity. His body is a bit squatty, but he did give me that Mego feel when I got him in 89 from an ad in Toy Shop. The headsculpt is definitely non-Keaton, but the boots and belt are accurate.

So what was the relation with Kidz Biz and Toy Biz? They used the same packaging design, in the days before EVERYTHING looked the same.

When I was working at one of my old after-school programs, this one boy named Justin had those same Batman guys, and tons more. I swear, he had at least 20. And the funny thing was, just about every figure was the SAME BODY MOLD in different dayglow colors and dorky accessories!

I never did understand the day-glo Batman thing. I wonder if they ever sold in good numbers?
        It's all good!

Since I was a Senior in High School when Batman Burton came out I wasnt all that interested in getting all the figures. So what do little kids do? I never WANTED more than one of teh same guy as a kid? I had Han Solo and Hoth Han solo and Bespin Han Solo and that was enough to confuse me.

What good is a box full of nothing but batmans ?

I still think the Knock out Joker was GREAT! ( removable armor MR Freeze was a good movie likeness too.But of junk, too bad on Penguin !!! :-(

All the Toy Biz Batman figures were completely mediocre. Especially side-by-side with the Super Powers figures they were supposedly based on!

              Action mechanisms were awkward.

Worst is Pirate Batman from the Legends of the Dark Knight line.

Awkward pose. Even more ridiculous articulation.

And despite the ludicrous premise, keeping in mind it was Pre-Jack Sparrow, on paper it looked pretty good thanks to the pen of the hugely under-rated Alcatena.

In terms of my favourite, I'll always have a soft spot for the Mego 12" Batman of my childhood.

I can't stand all the weird variations. It's like they make all the different versions just to sell something to collectors. Batman is what batman is. He wouldn't, for example, wear camoflage. He'd have something in his suit or utility belt to cloak him. We used our imaginations as kids. Some of the variations (i.e. pirate Batman) are just stupid. Aargh! My $.02

I Never purchased the Weirdo Variants of Batman ,.. Spidey , Wolvie or any other figure while collecting for myself. I Always thought they were lame,. and pretty much the stupidest figures of all time.

Then My Boy was Born ...
And He wanted all them Camo Infer-Red Cape Springing Batmen's ...
Then I realized the Target Audience for these figures ...

Is that a repaint of the earlier fencing Batman? Dont remember the name.

Some of those were neat. The one on the horse looked kinda cool.

                        But Egypt Batman?

It was a period where toy companies thought all children were single-celled organisms, only attracted to bright colors.

And I loved the Anti-Virus Batman from your top-ten list... except I called him Star Wars Special Edition Exploding Death Star Batman.

That was what got me back into Mego! As much as I like the statue figurines the Superman and Wonderwoman boxset came with, I kind of wish they had done retro style action figures for them as well.

Those Masterpiece edition boxsets were so wonderful. I kind of wish they had kept going with other less popular characters like Flash and Green Lantern. The entire package with the hardcover Les Daniels book and repro comic was top notch.

I hate to admit this given that ridiculous fur hat, but I really dig Soviet Batman from Mark Millar's excellen Red Son Elseworlds.
