Batman Returns from McFarlane DC Multiverse

Announced a while back, pretty promo shots were revealed, and these go up for preorder on Friday, Sept. 19th. In typical McFarlane fashion, Max Schreck is an exclusive at first to online orders at Gamestop, then will show up at Walmart and Target later in the fall. Oy. But they do look great!

New preview photos have been released for the upcoming Batman Returns - DC Multiverse 7" Scale Figures from McFarlane Toys. Pre-orders for the assortment will open on Friday September 19. Included are: Batman Catwoman The Penguin Max Shreck The Duck with Penguin 2-Pack Commando Penguins Right now, all but Max Shreck will be at general...

Better Keaton likeness than the previous figure.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Nice to see the McFarlane included Max Schreck. He always gets overlooked in Returns merchandise, which is a shame because the character is really central to the plot and Walken's portrayal is fantastic.

Not a fan of the movie but, ill probably get Keaton bats. To me the updated returns cowl is the closest we've gotten to a literal interpretation of what it looks like in the comics especially when its hit with some backlighting. The returns cowl on the '89 suit is ideal for me.

Yes, scale wise, the Duck would be undersized...but that fits right in with Mego vehicles.

These figures do look really good.

But I was so underwhelmed by the film when I saw it in the cinema back in the day. (Was that really over 30 years ago, now?) The only standout for me personally was the stitched-together, latex Catwoman suit. I also liked the 'idea' of a Penguin design and character concept that leaned more into the namesake animal for inspiration. But the execution was a little too 'gross and bizarre' for my personal taste. In contrast, the Christopher Walken character was too bland/generic for me. So I was a hard-to-please viewer of this film!

All that said, what most catches my eye is the Rubber Duck vehicle. That definitely falls, for me, in the category of, "That is so awesome and I can't believe that exists as a toy in 2025!"

If only price and space were not considerations....

I was slightly put off by the Burtoness of it in 1992, but now I appreciate that aspect even more. Keaton and Pfeiiffer have great chemsistry (they dated years before) and the theme of duality and masks is really well done and very intriguing. Any scene between those two is golden.

We've had so many different Batman films now, I can appreciate this quirky and unique take. The movie is VERY kinky though. It's no wonder McDonald's got a few complaints for having a toy tie-in in their Happy Meals (although the rumors that the toys were pulled is utter bunk).
