MOTU Origins has now lasted as long as the vintage 82 line. Still going years after youtube personalities declared the line dead and yes Mattel still owns MOTU. The Catra wave is starting to show up at Target stores. MOTU Origins has also brought in other 80s toy lines like Sun Man, TMNT and now Thundercats.

MOTU Origins turns 5
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...Tags: None -
Thundercats MOTU will do even better that TMNT, IMO. Sun-Man was great, and frankly I wish Mattel would appropriate Fuerza-T.
Fright Zone is scheduled for this October, and Mattel has committed to completing the line and acknowledging Preternia, too.
I love this line, though not always the solicitation of exclusives.WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses. -

It's a great line, and one I will no doubt regret not buying every single one of. But I dig the figures and vehicles I have bought for sure. So glad they continue to thrive.
The "youtube personalities" comment is a good one to remember. Someone with an "inside line" spread misinformation as if they were an expert. Sign of the times!Comment

The line continues to be successful and it's arguably Mattel's most successful boys line in well, forever. At least since the heyday of MOTU.
I don't buy near as many of these guys as I once did, but I still pick up stuff from time to time and I continue to be impressed with the quality.
Plus it has spawned some great spinoffs like the WWE Superstars line.Comment

They recently released one of my favorites Rio Blast.) Thundercats will be awesome and I bet when Mattel does DC again next year that will be their next crossover.Comment

Love the form factor but kind of checked out on anything beyond '82-'85 in the vintage line. Everything else seems like endless snake people variations and characters that look like kitbashes.
Im a thundercats fan so was hoping the upcoming figures would appeal to me but from what ive seen so far they dont. Lion-O looks more like a guy in cosplay and I dont like the overly long arms. But maybe my opinion will change once i see some youtube reviews.Comment

They really beat the Snake Men to death. They even turned the TMNT subline into snakes. I think they are still even going to try to push that Snake Lair. Good grief, they really need to read the room. I think people are sick of the Snake Men. I know I am.
A few other issues I have. I think Sun Man was a great idea, but it should have been its own sub line like the TMNT and Thundercats crossovers.
POP has been treated poorly.
We got endless newly created Snake Men but only one classic 80s toy line She-Ra figure in Origins. It's She-Ra's 40th anniversary and we still don't have Swift Wind. They can release an unused development sketch of Sy-Klone (who is not exactly an A-lister) as a figure but not one of She-Ra on her 40th anniversary. They could also give us a two pack of proper vintage toy reissues of She-Ra and Catra like they are doing for He-Man and Skeletor.
I'm kind of worried we won't get any more She-Ra characters after the anniversary is over this year. The rumor is they will be pushing the 2002 MOTU next year. You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion.
