    Sugar Daddy Ken?

Have any of you SEEN this?

He has a blond swept back hairstyle, wears a light green print jacket, white trousers and matching shoes. He also has this teeny little yap dog named Sugar.

Now, bear in mind that I am an open minded person please, but this has to be the most flamboyantly gay doll I have ever seen amongst the Ken set.

I know that Ken, in and of himself is simply a prop for Barbie, with no real use otherwise. But to do this to him is just wrong on so many levels. Not to mention the price is outrageous!

If you don't believe me, go to angelicdreamz.com, and check him out in the barbie section.

Ken as Aragorn, I'd buy; Ken as Legolas, I'd buy; heck, Ken as Henry Higgins I'd buy! But this Ken? No way in H-E- double toothpicks will I buy.

Yeah, Mattel is finally catering to their adult male fanbase.

Which is interesting when you consider that they whisked "earing magic" Ken (which made Sugar Daddy look like Jack Webb) off the shelves because it was popular with those same collectors.

Cindy informs me they have already pulled this from release. But they may make it an online exclusive, but that's yet to be determined.

        THAT was quick!

I remember quite a few years back that there was a big to-do about a Ken doll that was on the shelf, dressed in one of Barbie's outfits.

It was thought not to be a deliberate move on Mattel's part, but simply a goof up that someone in assembly made.

I wonder what happened to that version of Ken.

Just saw pics of it. In a word, hideous.

Mattel has REALLY lost their way with Barbie. This is not what Ruth Handler had in mind when she created Barbie. Barbie was a revolution in her day. No one in the toy industry had ever really asked girls what they wanted or what their hopes and dreams were.

The men at Mattel told Ruth Barbie would never sell and girls only wanted baby dolls. Ruth knew better by actually asking girls what they wanted instead of telling them.

I find this painfully obvious pandering to adult males at the expense of little girls downright inexcusable.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

It's right in keeping with Hallowe'en then. That's the one time of year for stuff that's hideous.

At least they could have given him a more masculine dog! Like a Labrador Retriever, or a German Shepherd!

But no, they give him this teensy little yappy thing that my cat would have made mince meat of. And I'm talking about the nice one we had.

If the nasty one had ever met a dog like that, she'd have chased IT up a tree!

LOL! Is that Ken an accessory for Barbie or for the new "Don't ask, don't tell" GI Joe?
