    Devilman

Any fans of this Japanese series?

It's based on an Anime and Manga, about humans and demons "merging" and becoming either a human with demonpowers, or a "demonically possessed" human.

I've always liked the series (it's very hardhitting), and started collecting the figures.
This guy in France has a very nice site with all the figures:
    Plastic Devilman : Zenon Fewture
Plastic Devilman : Devilman Fewture A
    Plastic Devilman : Jinmen Fewture

The figures range from 6 inch to 12 inch, going from humans to "the Big Bad", Zenon. A lot of the demon figures are very weird ( a turtle that absorbs enemies into his shield, consuming then over years), Psycho Genie ( a big woman's head on legs). It's Japanese, so you can expect that....

The figures were released internationally through Diamond, but they were "adapted" for US audiences.
So Silene and Devilman Lady are originally nude, but the US versions had a crudely sculpted "bra" on them.
It goes without saying that I collect the Japanese versions.

You can choose between creator Go Nagai (of Mazinger fame) original (more cartoonish) versions (like in the manga), and the more gothic Fewture versions.

I was lucky enough to get a "private audience" with Go Nagai himself, where he signed a carded Silene for me, and sketched a Mazinger.

    Any other fans out there?

I love Anime based toys. Haven't really seen much of Devilman. Latest ones I've watched have been Trigun, Trinity Blood, Death Note.

I'd love to go to Japan with a big bag full of money.
Lo there do I see my Father.
Lo there do I see my Mother and my Sisters and my Brothers.
Lo there do I see the line of my people back to the begining.
    Lo they do call me.
They bid me take my place among them.
In the halls of Valhalla where the brave may live forever.

      Death Note is cool.
They made some great figures of the demons...

I'm a fan of Go Nagai's characters, and Devilman is one of his best. I only have a few toys though, the coolest one I have is the Medicom 12" action figure (the manga version).

            Hmmmm....

Go Nagai is my personal god! The man not only invented the giant robot, but he also put the sex and violence into Japanese cartoons! Devilman is one of my all-time favourites. (That, and Violence Jack; but I haven't seen too much of Jack.) A friend sent me the run of the original comic, as well as a few issues of the Amon Saga. I even enjoy the original 60's tv Devilamn show! (But the 80's OAVs are the best! Nothing beats the final fight between Amon and Shilene!)

                  True.
A lot of us Western fans love giant robots, Shogun warriors, etc, but not many know about the man behind the phenomenon.
Go Nagai is a very "versatile" creator (just compare Mazinger with Devilman), and he's been at it for decades!

I've always wanted to see the anime "Mazinger Z vs. Devilman". That one sounds like it would be all good.

It's a really old film, and it's the TV Devilman; but if you like the old over the top cartoons it's a good one!
