    Cobra Commander is Deadpool?

Topless Robot - Crunchberry Commander's Crunchberry Revealed

Is that not a Marvel Legend's Dead Pool head on this figure? The smile gave it away....

I don't understand the design concept of Cobra Commander for the New Flick at all..... A Hood or classic " Chrome Dome" look would have worked for the Big Screen imo.

I have said it all a long , and will continue to do so. This design of Cobra Commander sucks the big snake. I don't understand what was so hard. I get it but disagree the hooded blue outfit was perceived as racially insensitive, and that's only because people are over senstive and looking for problems. Can I ask what was wrong with the original face sheild look again ? They surely could have designed a helmet thingy . What I'm hoping for is that this is an early film look, and as Cobra rises, He will change appearance as well. ( I think everyone is Hoping for this ) But from what I hear he is only in the film towards the very end. Grrr....

From what I've read, the film will see Destro put into his (apparantly faithful) mask at the end as well. I kind of get that, having two guys in a mask at the start of a film may be a bit offfputting.

BUT I've heard that the movie also has Cobra Commander become disfigured at one point and change his look as well. So we have two villain origins in the movie.

I don't know why they went so Sci-Fi with Cobra Commander, his look in the comics and the toys has always been kind of cool and iconic. They threw away 25 years of marketing power, that's like doing a new helmet for Darth Vader....

Not a fan of the movie figures at all. How you can screw up Cobra Commander is something of a head scratcher. To make matters worse they didn't even put detail into the visor which is a strong part of their new design for him. Then, to add insult to injury, they're pricing these things at $20.00 a pop on a massive retail release? No thanks. That's a pre-planned stink bomb, Hasbro should have anticipated. Sometimes that company operates with a total disconnect to the consumer. It's equally incredible how some of those guys keep their jobs in marketing.

Actually, I think you have a great point, I can see where you are going there. It maybe too much too soon. I also agree that his look is iconic and it will hurt the marketing tremendously.

According to Dark Horizons, after the first showing of the film to Paramount Execs, the director Stephen Somers was fired on the spot, and Stuart Baird was brought in to try salvage the film....its that bad.

This could just be a rumor, but Dark Horizons usually stays away from reporting unconfirmed stuff.

As for the toys, the only one I thought worth buying was Shipwreck. Mainly because I think he looks like the old GI JOE Commander figure from the Adventure Team/Kung Fu grip days!

I don't think I'm surprised at all. This is the same company that chose to do Superman Blue in an 8 inch size and Flash and Green Lantern in a 12 inch format. Stupidity is hardly a new concept to them. When was the last time a 12 inch format worked since the original 12 inch Joes? Even Hasbro made the switch to the 3 3/4" ones years back. Why switch back now? As for the character himself they did the same thing with the Green Goblin in the Spidey flick. Why go so high tech with it? They had so many years of the old look so why not stay in synch? It worked for Gobby, HobGobby, DemoGobby, etc in all the comics. All use the same similar look. I'm not saying don't alter it some but why so drastic? How about a CA style Gobby mask? That would have been cool. Offer two suits so you can swap back and forth between Gobby and Norman. I will never understand the big toy companies. It's like they have absolutely no ability to analyze anything. The recent trek stuff was ***. Why can't a figure have playability and screen accurate looks. It's like they have to decide between the two and I just can't figure it out. I have not seen a boy play with a doll in a 12 inch format in forever. Barbie and Bratz are the only successful formats I've seen bigger than 8 inch. So why continue? Especially since you could at least cut cost by cutting size and make them more affordable that way to increase sales. They mold pants and only offer limited accessories which for the most part are molds that could be used for a million other figures in the next 10 years so why not look at every figure you've done in the past and stick in a bunch of stuff to go with each guy. That stuff costs pennies for these guys to produce but adds huge value to the consumer. When will we see a major company get it right? Soon I hope.
It's not a doll it's an action figure.

I agree with Brian, whether or not the movie is good, it certainly wouldn't have hurt to try and stick to at least some visuals folks recognize. Snake-Eyes is pretty dead-on, and the model they should have followed. Same for Baroness. Everyone else is unrecognizable.

And I don't think there are any negative or corny conotations associated with RAH. I know some folks like to make cracks at He-Man looking somewhat effeminate, etc, so changing He-Man's look slightly wouldn't surprise me as much as messing with the iconic elements of Joe.
