    Canadian 33/4 Trek figures

    Has anybody found a 3 3/4" Pike at retail yet? I've looked high and low and its really starting to look like he wasnt released up here. Makes sense doesnt it...the highest profile Canadian actor in the film, and you dont release him in Canada?

    I've been harassing the Canadian distributor about selling the missing bridge add on pieces in a box set up here...Guess I'll have to add the missing Pike to the list. Maybe they can combine them into a set (Pike and the pieces?)

    If anyone else has a load of free time and wants to contact the Canuck distributor, heres their customer service dept's e-mail:[email protected]

    On another note;

    Having now seen the film, I am disappointed not only in the design of the toys, but in the approach taken by Playmates. I guess it made sense to their marketers to stick with the old tried and true just do the crew figures approach, but I really think they missed the boat by not doing some of the other characters like the bike cop/hover bike, or the long faced (Morn?) guy at the bar. Scotty's little softie (sorry-couldnt resist) pal from Delta Vega. The dog/bear thing and the ice scorpion thing from Delta Vega. Sarek (how can you not do Sarek!). Kirks bike.....maybe even the vette?

    I couldn't agree more on Playmates missing the boat on some of the other characters in the film. I would have snatched up a few of Scotty's buddy Keenser, the bike cop would have been sweet as well, good idea.

    On you're first point I don't see why they didn't back the bridge pieces like the States, are they less expensive in Canada because of this? Also if you want I'm sure I can find a Pike down here and get him to you at cost plus shipping, let me know.

      Nope...they arent cheaper. They average $9.99 up here. I have been told by a few folks "in the know", that the Canadian distributor requested the extra pieces be dropped to up their profit point. In the case of the 6" and 12" figures, they just drove the cost higher....meaning these are not selling AT ALL up here. I bought a 6" McCoy so I could use his hypo spray for Mego McCoy two weeks ago. I was in the same store the other day and the only bare spot on the shelf is where the McCoy I picked up was...seriously!
      The 12" figures ...at $50.00 a piece...look like they will be dust collectors in the stores for a while as well.

      Thanks for the offer on the Pike figure sir, but I think....Trek nut that I am....I'm probably going to order a set of figures from the US so I can complete the bridge/transporter room sets. Thanks anyways though...really appreciate the offer!!!

        My complaints were heard!

        I just heard back from Playmates this afternoon. The next wave of figures due in the fall will now have the extra bridge and transporter room components included in the packaging..FOR THE SAME PRICE as wave 1 figures. They are also going to use the idea of combining the missing pieces from wave one into two different booster packs that will include an action figure as well. Pike will come with the bridge parts pack....they arent sure who will come with the transporter room set...probably a Chekov in starfleet uniform, but its still up in the air.

        They were kinda quiet when I asked about the 6" and 12" lines...neither are doing very well in Canada and I doubt we will see more of them here. I noticed Superstore had the 6" figures at clearance already--9 bucks a piece, down from 15 dollars a piece.
