The new Star Trek build a bridge figures

Hi, I was checking out the new trek figures the past few days. I'm not very impressed with what I saw through the package.

But the one thing I noticed as about the cheap bridge pieces with the small figures. Anyone open up one of these yet? It doesn't look like there are any pins or tabs to secure them to the actual bridge play set.

Seems kind of cheap to just set the parts on. One good knock from a photon torpedo or a cat jumping on the shelf and everybody on the Enterprise to go flying.
Lo there do I see my Father.
Lo there do I see my Mother and my Sisters and my Brothers.
Lo there do I see the line of my people back to the begining.
    Lo they do call me.
They bid me take my place among them.
In the halls of Valhalla where the brave may live forever.

The extra pieces just set on the vinyl play mat that come with the play set.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

No not the retro mego set. The movie 3 3/4 inch scale figure set. The new series has a bridge and transporter that link up. The figures each come with a part of an additional work station.

Seems to me they should plug into the plastic base of the set somehow.

They also should have made it a bit more detailed in my opinion.

At least I hope the new movie bridge is not a vinyl play mat.....Shudder

Vintage play sets from back in the day sure I'm cool with that. Ahhhhhhh the smell of toy vinyl

But not in a new set.

It is a vinyl play mat - the plastic pieces just sit on top. It's no too bad when all is out - I added my ST-TMP and Trek III figures to the bridge as well - just for flavor

Yes, the new movie play set is a vinyl play mat. The bridge pieces just set on the mat. They do not snap in.

the figures are poorly made as well. I guess for little kids they can look past that but I thought they were crappy. My son loves them though

Yeah the articulation I could see sucked. Seems a shame about the play sets.
                I expected so much more.

I hope the movie is good but I fear the figures are all going to be peg warmers fated to soon join the Speed Racer stuff in the bargain bin.

that's fine if they are peg warmers. It will give me a chance to complete the set for my son at signifigantly less cost.

the bigger scale figures do seem to be better quality

Hey, at least you get the bridge pieces in the US!
Up here, the figures dont come with them. I've contacted Playmates and RP Toys (the Canadian distributor) to see waht the hecks going on, and if they plan to sell the pieces seperately in the future, but neither has responded. I was thinking of buying a set of figures from the US, but dropped that idea. Playmates got enough of my money for some less than stellar toys as it is!
