    Trekk Phasers Compared

Pictures of the Star Trek Phasers side by side for comparison with the New Trek Phaser. What's missing? Playmates never made a mass market Star Trek III Phaser; which is pretty faithful to the classic series look. Also no Next Gen Phasers are here because I never bought any. They were pieces O' kee-rap!

I think this New Trek phaser reminds me of the Faux Phaser used in Galaxy Quest:

Whoa, I am jealous of your phaser collection. I had a few of those, the one I regret letting go was the Playmates TWOK phaser.

        Nice Pics!

I have most of those, and the TNG phasers and tricorders.
Can't say I'm crazy about the new phaser.

I think they were trying to capture the look of the assualt phaser (from 5 + 6), but failed. Maybe if it were black instead of bright shiney chrome it would help?

I'm wondering, on the new phaser, does the top pull back like an automatic pistol to change rom stun to disrupt? That would make it infinitely more cool than I think it is now...but I'm betting it doesnt work that way.

(It does resemble Galaxy Quest doesnt it! A lot of the new movie stuff falls into that category!)

Thanks for the compliments. I have been buying the ST repica toys for years. If you like TWOK Phaser, Art Asylum is releasing their version soon. Go to Bigbadtoystore.com to pre-order it. Their version will have a removable Phaser Type 1 component that the Playmates version did not have.

The New Trek Phaser has a button on the left side by your thumb and the snout where the beam of light would emit flips 180 degrees from blue to red,( stun to kill?), you can see that part in my picture-look closely. Other than that the setting wheel on the top turns and the read-out glows yellow.

Lets say that I wanted to buy a TOS phaser replica. Which one is the best looking most realistic and functional phaser out there in the market today?

Great collection. I have most of the ones pictured, my favorite is the ST6 "Macho" Phaser.

Thanks I'm thinking the new AA TWOK phaser might find a home in my collection.

I like the AA Classic Phaser for accuracy, it has a removable type 1 phaser, and has a good feel to it. I used one for a prop for a halloween costume. I also have the Playmates classic one from the 90's, it has some nice sound and lighting f/x, not as many as the AA one, and the type 1 is not removable. Just my two cents.

Thanks for your opinion. I really appreciate the help. My reason for asking is that I am in the process of having a large building built to house my many collectibles. I have out grown my space and have way too many collectibles stashed in totes to where I cannot display them let alone find some of the when I want to. Once the building is completed I plan on purchasing a Star Trek Capt. Kirk life size replica chair and then I want to get TOS uniform and a phaser and communicator that are as close to TOS show as possible without buying the props.

^^^ Then what, you going to sit in your chair dressed as Kirk laughing maniacally while surrounded by your collectables?

After I send a landing party down of red shirts to take you prisoner. LOL!!! hahaha Now you went and ruined the plot. I was going to do videos and upload them to You Tube once my building is completed and my collection in place. Now instead I will just have to shoot videos of you dusting off my collectibles WHILE I sit in my Captain's chair laughing like a maniac. Hey YOU MISSED A SPOT! zap! a stun from my phaser. LOL! hahahaha
