    Drastic Plastic

Does anyone have any info on this company? Are they defunct? How many Western/Civil War figures did the do? I've seen their Custer figure and at 12" size it is very nice. Jim Maddox did the sculpt for this but I don't hardly ever see them for sale (at least not recently) and the company's website seems to be growing weeds.

Check out the detail on that Revolver. Incredible!

Of all the figures in history, I think Capt. James T Kirk owes Custer a little homage. (everyone remembers his masacre at the little big horn but in less known history, this gung ho General helped the north win the Civil War. He acted just as we've seen kirk act in fiction. But to their credit, obviously did not know how to fight the Indians, the US was at war with at the time. (A valiant such a death Kirk should have had)

But I am wondering the fate of Drastic Plastic. They seem to just be gone.

Drastic Plastic is pretty small time, and seems to appear and disappear off the radar on a regular basis. Cant remember the guys name right now, but the company literally is a one man show. Last I heard he (David B---something...I think?) was having some success with a line of vinyl figures called "Swear Bears".
I dont believe they did any other western characters beyond Custer. I do recall some contraversy when DP released a Hitler figure, and I believe they also did a Mussolini and a Himmler figure as well.

So I guess the DP Custer is similar in release as the Flattworld Dracula. Still a very excellently done figure. I like it much better than the Sideshow version. It is just very hard to find.

I never new Drastic Plastic did other toys. I thought they did just the Space HardCorp figures back in the early '90's.
I got a set of those when they were first published in Tomarts Digest in '90 as well as rare copies of the prototypes that the owner of the Company David Reeves sent me personally because we had a bad deal and they were sent as an appeasment for me sicking the BBB on him to get my order. I also got a couple very LIMITED rare figures from him as well.
I never see thes figures sets around and are one off my favorties.
I often wonder what ever did happen to them???

His name is David Reeves if memory serves me, I'd have to see if it is on my BBB paper work that I sent him in the '90's to get my Hard Corp figures set from him.

Yes, David Reeves. DP only did Hitler and FDR in the Military Leaders line, and Custer in the western line. David is now doing a ton of manufacturing rep/design work for other companies. He did quite a bit of work for the NFL FOX Sports Robot last year:

Hey, welcome Michael! I've emailed you about the Custer. I managed to land two of them. And I paid through the nose for each! They are in perfect scale with vintage GI Joe.

Good to have you here! You write some great reviews.

Drastic Plastic also did the space series "Hard Corp" figures as well.
Those were/are sweet, I just wish he was able to get those off the ground.
                I love my set.
