    The Perfect Toy Car Storm

For my demographic, the early 70's had a strong car flavor. We often had a discussion based on which was the superior car, the Batmobile or the Mach 5.
    Tough call really.

Anyway, for us, there was really only ONE carmaker that held our interest. Hot Wheels. Yeah Corgi made a big Batmobile and Corgi Jr made one the right size at last. but they weren't Hot Wheels. And except for Japan ( you would have as much luck getting one form Mars) you weren't getting a Mach 5. Japan Hot Wheels also made the Batmobile. ALSO impossible for us to get.

Then starting in 2000 or so, Hot Wheels started making Batmobiles. The less than stellar MattelMobile was first. In purple. Yeah.

It got better...they released black versions matte and shiny..
They released the Keaton and Bale movie versions. These were good. A few more versions came out.
Then the West Batmobile came out. At last. A true Hot Wheels Real Batmobile.

Then they released the stinktacular Speed Racer Movie. Even a bad movie can have great products! Especially when the dollar store marked down tons of the cars to a buck each. I have about 20 different vehicles got for less than half price from the movie. And doubles and triples of the Mach 5 and Shooting Star.
I know it didn't happen all at once, but it was close enough together for me to see them both on the shelf at the same time. And that was a sweet time trip for me.

Yeah the Johnny Lightning Speed Racer series was great. They even produced the Sizzlers race set Mach 5 and GRX before Mattel came out with the redux of the Sizzlers name....But it still wasn't a Hot Wheels...
