I collect a number of figures from Hot Toys and Takara. Truly the cream of the crop when it comes to any figures...PERIOD. Here's my latest. I love it. For those not familiar, this figure has a soft muscle "outerskin" so if you pushed on his chest, it would have a soft "flesh-like" resistance. The championship belt alone has actual pictures of Clubber Lang, Apollo, Clubber, and Rocky himself. As detailed as any figure I have.
Wow. That is a fantastic Rocky. I wonder how the chest will hold up in 20, 40 years though? Still wonderful eye candy. I would play with that toy in a heartbeat. Do you take it out of the box to air him out and play with him?
Hot Toys are for posing, no playing. They cost a tad too much to be worn out. He stands in my trophy case. During our Superbowl party he got quite a bit of attention, even from those completely uninterested in the hobby. So I would call that the true test of a quality figure. You can condition the rubber outerskin with a number of different products to keep it just as good as the day it was purchased. I would imagine it will outlive me.
That muscle body is really cool. My favorite figure it was on was the Veitnam Shorty machine gunner HT put out a few years back. That one did not have the rubber coated legs, tho and was a bit more poseable.
I would have to disagree on playing with Hot Toys. I think the display case and posing is the adult version of play. If you handle your toys at all, that is a form of play. I reposition Ripley and her Power Loader(another AWESOME hot toys item) all the time. A bit distanced from an eight year old running down the hallway with his x-wing making whooshing noises, but play nonetheless. Figures that do not get handled, and stay forever in their paper and plastic tombs, those figures do not get played with. Not to say they are not appreciated by their owners, but they do not get played with.
Well stated RCHE. I stand corrected. Based on that definition I certainly buy Hot Toys for the adult play theme. They are certainly never meant to stay in their boxes. If everyone saw my work office, no one would ever doubt my love for the hobby, but ROCKY was my first to graduate to my Trophy case. He's simply that good, from my perspective.
HOT TOYS really makes some incredible stuff. I just wish they were not so elitist with the over pricing. I mean, ya gotta be super-rich to collect these, ha ha!
I do seriously love the TDK Bat-Pod Motorcycle they made though. One of the best toys to come out recently, along with the Joker Bank Robber....sweet!
