So the family was sick and tired of being stuck in Cynthiana, had a little Christmas gift money to burn and went to Florence, KY. Florence isn't as heavily scalped as Lexington, which is closer to us. But we don't get to Florence as often.
Anyway, went to Target and found the new DCU Infinite Heroes Powergirl and Batwoman figures. Passed on a few others. My son found the Imaginext Mr. Freeze he's been after.
We stopped at Meijer's hoping to find The Brave and the Bold figures, and we did! My son got Blue Beetle (deluxe figure) and the regular Batman deluxe figure (normal costume, jet-pack thingee). They only had one normal Batman, so I just got Blue Beetle. No regular, non-deluxe figures were there. I was stunned to find DCUC figures on the peg that WEREN'T Red Tornado, Penguin and Etrigan! They had several wave 2 figs, and I quickly dug through them hoping for...AQUAMAN!!! At last, the final series 2 figure I needed, and the classic version I preferred to boot! Not only that but picked up the series 3 Deathstroke and GL, even though I should have a GL coming in the mail from a deal, I'm starting to think I'll never get him, and couldn't pass him up.
TRU turned up nada but the Orion/Lightray 2-pack, and I just couldn't pull the trigger since I have Orion already (even if the new one has a removable helmet). On the way home we stopped in a small town called Dry Ridge. Their Wal-Mart super-center never seems to be scalped at all. There I found every single figure in the Kalibak wave (is this wave 5 or 6?). Black suit Superman (and Mullet regular suit Supes variants), Mr. Miracle (and Dr. Impossible variant), Hawkman, Captain Marvel and frickin' Killer Moth!!! I left the variants, and one Mr. Miracle. I didn't know who needed what from this wave, so I just left them there for the next guy, who hopefully won't go to ebay with them. I also picked up the 1:50th scale Hot Wheels Batmobile/Tumbler at last there.
The only downer, is when I got home my fears about Aquaman were confirmed. It appeared his lower left arm had popped loose in the package, but I couldn't tell if the peg was broke. It was. But you know what, I just glued the frickin' thing. If I ever see another, I'll just replace it.
Sorry to be so long-winded, but this RARELY happesn to me nowadays, and it was quite a thrill to find such an amount of great stuff in the wild.
