So, on some Ninja Turtle Museum board are there no repro bellyachers?

I have the First wave Turtles with April and Splinter. I bought so many of them for cousins and my friends Kids over the years.

Honestly I think the 2008 Neca releases were better if you're going for old school look (pre-pizza and archie comics)

They're also highly articulated and have nice extras, real chains (which are too long, just like the comic) on Mike's chucks and differentiated expressions. The only flaw I saw was the lack of shoulder straps on Don and Leo - but then it took a few issues for those to get added in the books anyway.
But don't take my word for it - read the book! Ba-bum-bump.
