Doctor Who Classic Figures Now Available!

Run to Big Bad Toystore.com and place your orders right now! They are still taking Pre-Orders but that's misleading. I was just notified by email that the Doctor Who Classic Figures are now arriving and they charged me for the set so it's a done deal. If you wait-you will lose!

Whona.com has them in stock as well:

Who North America, Your Doctor Who Source: US-Based Suppliers of Doctor Who and British Sci Fi Merch: DOCTOR WHO

I understand there will also be Torchwood figures. That'll make for some cool cross-overs with these figures.

I haven't heard many people clamoring for Torchwood figures but I bet Torchwood fans are just more quiet than DW fans. Whona has their own forums and they said they have them on order. It's just a question of waiting for them to arrive. These Classic Who figures are 3 months overdue here in the USA but well worth the wait.

I wonder if my comic store got them in for me like I asked/begged.

I'm not happy that I'm buying modern figures but for some reason I REALLY want that Giant Robot.

It sucks you have to buy them all just to get the Robot.
I would consider buying a few -- especially the Doctor's ... But I wouldn't want all those aliens.

I also think it's weird to release aliens like the Sea Devil -- but theres no Pertwee.

It is abit wrong that you have to buy the entire wave to get the Giant Robot, the next wave may have a Pertwee figure,3 classic Daleks are planned too,i may get the Zygon but definately would buy the Tom Baker one.

The Build-a-Robot concept is to force people to buy the whole classic wave so the manufacturer doesn't lose money on peg-warming figures. It boggles my mind though that Character Options thinks they will lose money on classic characters. Doctor Who is as large as Star Trek in merchandising. The fans gobble up anything that is cool. Figures as diverse as these and of this quality have never been available before and these are really great items. I think it was announced that they have Doctors: 2,3, & 8 sculpted and are awaitng approval.

You should check out the forums at Whona.com. They have discussed this in great depth. C.O. seems to have said they will do classic Doctors, Aliens & Robots. They won't do companions or human villains because there's a situation w/the BBC where they don't keep in contact with the actors and toy companies would have to track everyone down themselves. That's crazy! We need companions too! Most of the actors from years gone by appear regularly at conventions and do commentary on the DVD's; they do interviews. They can probably be found quite easily. With the exception of people who have died, ( that I know of), like Roger Delgado & Anthony Ainley I think you could get just about any person's character made. I'm not sure how you could get permission to use Delgado's likeness for a figure because his wife re-married. I don't think he has any next of kin. I don't know about Ainley.

I'm not saying they have to do every companion or minor character but consider sets that would make sense. I think the classic waves will be a huge success. I'm getting ahead of myself but we might see a wide variety like so:

1st Dr., Ian, Barbara & Susan, his grandaughter.

1st Dr. variant, Ben, Polly, Cyberman,(10th Planet).

2nd Dr., Jamie & Zoe, Meddling Monk, Ice Warriors, Yeti build-a-figure.

2nd Dr. & Jamie variants, Victoria, Cyberman, (The Invasion)

              Classic Tardis console #1

              Cybermen Evolution set

3rd Dr., Jo Grant, The Master, Draconian, Silurian

3rd Dr. re-paint, Sarah Jane Smith, Sontaran,(The Time Warrior),

Unit Collectors Set: 3rd Dr. re-paint, The Brigadier, Sgt. Benton, Capt. Mike Yates, Liz Shaw

3rd Dr. re-paint, Sarah Jane Smith, Harry Sullivan, Cybermen, (Revenge of the Cybermen).

              Classic Tardis console #2

4th Dr. re-paint, Leela, The Master, (Deadly Assassin), Davros,(Genesis of teh Daleks)

Alternate Tardis console,(The Hand of Fear)

4th Dr. re-paint, Romana, Adric, The Master, (Logopolis), Melkur,(Keeper of Traken)

Classic Tardis console #3,(The Five Doctors)

5th Dr., Tegan, Nyssa, Turlough, The Mara, (a blister card which is filled with only air for the Mara's non-corporeal spirit. A SDCC exclusive!).

              6th Dr., Peri, Rani,

7th Dr., Ace, Cyberman variant,(Silver Nemesis)

              Maybe even:

              Dr. Who Movie version,(Peter Cushing)

My comic store decided to not order the figures despite that I was willing to buy one of each, I'm a little PO'd. So I settled for Tom, Peter and a Zygon for now.

Instead of the Giant Robot build a figure, I'll give that laser gun to my Denys Fisher Robot instead, win/win.
