    kubrick black hole ?

    Hiya folks,

Was wondering if anyone around here picked up Medicom's Kubrick Black Hole figures.

What is the scale of these? Are they comparable to the Mego 1/18 line?

    thanks

They're about 3" tall as I recall, I'm not sure if that's in scale or not, I imagine they'd look larger.

I wish i had bought those when they came out but I hate blind boxed items and now they're almost as expensive as vintage.

Regular Kubrick figures are about 2 1/2", but yeah, these might be a bit bigger, especially with the stands. I don't know how big the Mego BH robots are though. I wish I had bought them too, but as Brian says, the blind box method kind of sucks. At least with the Kubrick Universal Monsters, you knew that the box would at least contain a monster figure (or one of the rare bonuses, like a coffin or lab table) but with these, you could end up with a Gepetto or Tinker Bell or something. The odds of getting an actual BH figure were slim (especially because they were each spread out into separate Disney series). Your only choice was to buy an already opened one, at a premium.

Looks like Vincent is a little over 2 inches; with his head up and on the stand - almost 2 1/2. Maximillian is 3 3/4 w/o stand. Just about 4" on the stand.

Both of these tend to be MORE $$ for the Kubricks than the vintage Mego. At least for loose figures.

But then there is Bob. Can't just run out and nab a Mego one of those. So, that is why I was wondering if the scale was close enough to display them together. Of course, now that I DON'T have the Star and Humanoid I thought I was going to buy earlier this week.....

Considering the rarity of the Mego/GIG BOB, the Kubrick version wouldn't be too bad of a filler piece until you could find the real thing. It looks like he'd fit in well enough if you aren't too picky. He looks really nice too.
