    DC Direct Christopher Reeve figure?!?

Saw this at the Superman Homepage:
    Superman Homepage - News

It will apparently be shown with today's DC solicits, but I can't find any info on it yet. Info isn't supposed to be released til 5 except for certain items up for preview. Newsarama has those, but this is nowhere in sight. It looks like an action figure, rather than a statue. Either way, it is SO bought!!!

In the comment section on the Superman Homepage, most are guessing it's a statue. I would have thought so to, due to the recent Lynda Carter statue, but it sure looks like he has arm articulation. Plus I would hope DCD would do a more dynamic pose of the statue (the classic pointing up pose for instance). We'll have to wait and see, but I'm tempted, even if it is a $300 dollar statue.

Now they need to complete the Trinity with Adam West.

It Looks like the Arms might Move ?
.. Yeah,.. I dunno. I like the Over all look of the figure, it's great, However The likeness to the head Sculpt & or Paint on the Head seems alittle off. I wish they would have done a bit better of a job with that, considering all the Custom 12 inch figures out there that have nailed the face sculpt ,.. & yet DC Isn't paying them.

It's fair likeness. I'll pass. I can buy a 21" resin kit today that is a hundred times better likeness for about the same $300.

Yeah, on further inspection, the sculpt and/or the paint is a bit off. He looks kind of...stuffy. Reeve has a tough likeness to nail. He's in there, it's clearly him, but if this is a statue, the likeness should be better. If it's a $17 action figure, it's awesome.

What looks like arm articulation may be the scupted seams of his costume. If so, they are a bit too pronounced.

It is indeed a statue. From DC's solicitations at Comic Book Resources:

                        CHRISTOPHER REEVE AS SUPERMAN STATUE
                        Sculpted by Karen Palinko
It's the quintessential Man of Steel!
One of the most fondly remembered depictions of Superman is now available as a commemorative statue exclusively from DC Direct. Christopher Reeve strikes an iconic pose from the classic 1978 feature film Superman - the movie that made the world believe "a man could fly" and turned the actor into a star.
Standing atop an S-shield base, the Christopher Reeve as Superman Statue is a limited-edition, hand-painted, cold-cast porcelain statue measuring approximately 12.50" tall x 5.5" wide x 3.75" deep. (The base measures approximately .75" high x 6.5" diameter.)
The statue includes a 4-color Certificate of Authenticity and is packaged in a 4-color box. Manufactured to order.
                        Advanced-solicited; on sale May 27, 2009 * Statue * $195 US
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this item will be donated to the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation.
It's not as high as I thought. I'll need to see additional photos first. Maybe a final version before pulling the trigger. Still, good to see official Reeve merchandise at long last!

I've seen better customs with a cloth costume. Now if you were gonna make this and Adam West in the 13' DC direct cloth line then we're talking........300 for a statue .....nope,no way ,no how

I like it. I don't 200.00 like it. I'd rather have one of Chris Meadows' customs or a good 8" Mego custom.
