    The Other World

    So;

    A while ago someone mentioned "The Other World" series of figures from the early 80's. If you'd never seen them, they were bendy figures about the size of a Star Wars guy, and there were all kinds of monsters and weird looking guys.

    I went looking for some good websites/pics for info, but there's pretty much nothing on them. Anyone know a good site?

    You are not talking about "M.U.S.C.L.E.S." figures, are you?

          I remember them well in Woolco, made by Arco if I recall. I know one guy who was big into these but haven't seen him in ages.

            Say; that's pretty good! I'd found a site that was similar; but without all the pics a while back.

              I had a friend who had the castle. The little tribal dudes that came with it weirded me out.

                  I really liked this toy line (mainly for the rubber monsters). I know when they were still current they were very hard to find. I mainly found them by me at a certain hardware store that also sold toys. I may have seen them at one other place (possibly childs world before they went kaput) but that is really it.

                  I know I was very happy to find the rare Froggacuda, though I can swear to this day that on one of the boxes he was referred to as "frogzilla"

                  I also think I have another website saved with more pictures and a complete checklist to the series. Will see if I can dig that up.

                  I know I saw some strange, but really cool insect thing on ebay once that is not listed on the previous site mentioned a few post above. In fact I never heard or saw it anywhere till that auction

                    For about a year they were EVERYWHERE around here, but different stores had different selections. (And on that site were a bunch I'd never seen....) The first set I got was a huge one that contained almost all the figures, a zillion weapons, and a bunch of them little mutant guys.

                    They were incredibly nifty; and I think 8" CustoMegos are in order. (If only I can get more good pics....)

                        Windsor, Ontario. Back in the 80's Canada was kind of a dumping ground for old toys; and being so close to the US we used to get a lot of really weird things, in mass quantities, at the local toy stores. Not so much any more. Seems like everywhere stocks the exact same stuff continent-wide these days.

                          ok, I found the checklist page I was referring to a few posts back. Not sure if it is everything, but still helpful

                          CTC,
                          thanks for that info, I am roughly about 1hr 20 mins for New York City and about 2 hours from Albany. Kind of right in the middle of everything in NY. I would always get a good selection of whatever I was after, but the Other World series proved to be a bit elusive.

                            They seem surprisingly uncommon for something I remember being readily available when I was a kid. I suspect it's 'cos they weren't a marketing tie-in for something, so everyone's forgot about them.
