I collect advertisements featuring Tokusatsu toys, and a couple years ago, when I was still allowed on Facebook, I came across a catalog scan that featured Bandai's Star Searchers.
In those Pre-Power Rangers days, finding Tokusatsu toys on toy store shelves was rare, but not unheard of, and Bandai's Star Searchers were really just repurposed toys of the Metal Heroes Shaider and (kinda) Sharivan.
The scan, as I recall was black and white lineart of the characters, and the text copy explained the toys features (though I may be misremembering)
I tried narrowing the search between 1984-1990. 1984 is the copyright date on the box, but I believe that's for Shaider itself, and that the toy would've been released in 1985 at the earliest. 1990 seems a bit late for them to still be advertising it, but who knows? 1993 would not be likely, as by that time Power Rangers would be on shelves.
Hope someone can help!
