    Toy detectives assemble!!

    TOY DETECTIVES ASSEMBLE!!
Need help tracking down a toy for a co-worker. She would have been a kid in the early 60s and this sounds like another of the many robots from the atomic age. She describes the battery-operated robot as a gray robot with a “backpack”. It could walk via its legs moving back and forth. What she really remembers is how the robot would sit in a vehicle, it’s backpack making contact with terminals in the car, powering it to go forward, headlights ablaze. She thinks it might have been called Robbie the Robot but is NOT the Forbidden Planet Robbie.

UPDATE- She says this would’ve been late 60s. I suggested Ding-a-lings. She said they were close but upon seeing them, she said those were too colorful and less refined.

Billy Blastoff perhaps? Fits the backpack requirement.

            That was impressive, Danny.

              Lucky guess!

I actually had that set 20 years ago or so and thought it was cool then, should have kept it
