Joe Desris and his Batman collection

Was flipping through a 1989 Batman Movie magazine and saw these pictures of Joe Desris and his Batman collection. He says this represents about 5% of his collection. Some pretty cool toys including some Megos. I love the chair cover!

I remember that matgazine being the first time I'd seen so much Mego in colour. Somewhere I have Entertainment Tonight interviewing Desris and looking at his collection.

One afternoon I ran into Joe, he was milling about Mark Huckabone's booth for a good hour while i worked Kane with him. He looked older and I didn't recognize him, Mark didn't mention his last name until after he left....

Around the time this magazine was published, Desris adverstised a Batman Collectors magazine in Toy Shop. I of course put my name on the list, but it never materialized. He sent a letter out telling everyone it wasn't going to happen.I was bummed.

Desris is known as THE authority on Batman. Much of what is photographed in Batman: Collected is actually from his collection, and he has contributed to many DC special projects (like being on the committee to pick "The Greatest Batman Stories Ever Told").
