5 Awesome Things on eBay this week

Captain Action Dr. Evil Sanctuary- (eBay Link) —   I don’t actively collect Captain Action, although I have in the past. I’ve got no real connection to it other than seeing a comic ad for it as a child in a back issue and wanting it. This set is the stuff of legend in the […]

Oh wow... I'm blown away by those 6MDM stickers. They are genius! Even as an adult, I still want to slap them on and run around the backyard making bionic sounds.

Am I being rude for wishing HW had done a Lazervette for the PACK or the truck? I mean they have Corvettes already how hard could it have been for a toy in the same company?

Nowadays I move in slow motion, so it would be more appropriate than when I was a kid.

That Captain Action playset is beautiful, but now that I've gotten clear shots of the inside, clearly that's Captain Action's HQ, not Dr. Evil's. I've heard this brought up before, but I wonder how the Dr. Evil name ever stuck? Was it called that in a catalog?

I had no idea about the Big Jim PACK Hot Wheels car!

Kyle Baker was a weird choice to illustrate all the Dick Tracy merchandise. It's lovely stuff, but it's very "artsy" and not very commercial. He did some Joker-only style guide work at this time, which I also thought was very odd.

Someone needs to get that Space:1999 PJ shirt and make some adult sized Tee-Public offerings!

Regarding the sanctuary, JC Penney just called it Captain Action's Sanctuary, but has Action Boy in the chair in the picture. Personally I think Dr. Evil took it over as the good Captain had 3 other living spaces already.

Here's the page from the catalog.

But.... in the dealer's catalog, which has been reproduced multiple times over the years, it calls it Dr. Evil Sanctuary.
