The Shadow Toys- Toy-Ventures Toy-Ventures celebrates its 150th-ish episode talking about 70s merchandise based on the Shadow, a radio legend. We explore the origins of the Shadow character, and talk about the odd merchandising blitz of the late 70s. Later on, then visit a local toy show! I show the stuff that will haunt me […]

Great to see this revisited and what an opening!

I began reading the Pyramid novelizations and collecting cassettes of the radio shows in the early '90s, and for years I thought I was the only one who recalled the catalogue listing of these Shadow toys.

The utility belt is one of my favorite toys, and it's been great to have PS showcase this character over the years.

Interesting note on DC's Shadow time: the second appearance of the character in the Batman comic (#259) is very clearly the inspiration for "The Fear," an episode of the Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardians show. The Shadow doesn't appear, of course, but the main tentpoles of the storyline are definitely lifted from that issue.

I don't remember seeing any of that stuff as a kid. I am also amazed the Shadow mobile flew under DC's radar.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...
